MEL, for a guy who has struggled his whole life, you said something that changed my life, and I will forever be grateful for stumbling upon and hearing... "I just don't dip my toe in the pool!" I would have laughed and called bullshit.... but when I further listened, and heard you have not been on a bike since 2004!!! Testimony rang true. I have changed my life. I kept "dipping my toe" in the pool. You can ONLY be on ONE side of a coin at a time. You either ARE, or you ARN'T! I was bullshitting myself, I could change my ways, and stay in the same environment. I left many I love, and will ALWAYS care about. But you spoke truth... you cannot claim to, or expect true change, if you keep "dipping your toe" in the same old pools! Thank you Brother! EXAMPLE speaks louder than words. Thank you for reaching me, by WALKING the WALK, not just TALKING the TALK! God Bless Brother. God Bless. I pray your message and truth reach thousands, just as it reached me. Thank you again, for walking the walk, in the light of Christ.

An incredible Interview and story. I've spent time as a minister working with the biker world and others that have gotten lost in the pain and spiritual loneliness of the darker side of life. I have lived the darker side of life as well. Mel's testimony is a real treasure. Mel's testimony makes me feel thankful I chased after God and people in pain. Wow! How inspiring! I mean... Geez, life itself offers the wisdom of gaining contentment, but you have to seek the answers too many brothers fail to comprehend or accomplish. Personally, I look at my life and can see what my bad decisions wrought. And like a Tiger too young to understand what maturity offers, I too had an appetite for things that were unhealthy both physically and spiritually. And once I survived to this point in my old age, I can see the few brothers still here that gained that same perspective. Mel is one and although I don't know him, it is apparent we are brothers from another mother. Looking back, too many brothers who had potential succumbed to life's dead ends, and as a result, their flames were extinguished prior to their enlightenment. Another brother of our survivor's club, Bob Seger, wrote two songs of merit where the lyrics detail our perspective. One is "Against the Wind" and the other is "Like a Rock." The first describes his old age sitting next to his fireplace to warm his bones only to realize the time that escaped him over the years, and the other describes his tendency to avoid life's entanglements with men with nefarious intent and schemes and to stand tall above them to accomplish his noble cause. You can hear this wisdom among people like Mel who understand their journey and what it taught them, and how they were born to reach that moment of discernment. For those of merit who are gone yet failed to gain the same, I pray for you in the hope it is of value. And I truly appreciate the stories of others who sought Jesus Christ and rest in peace prior to their deaths. To me, this is far more valuable than the pursuit of gaining the nonessentials many people die to accomplish. Mel's Italian background also offered the opportunity to know what is essential after many generations and their experiences. I know from my personal existence. What is truly essential and what everyone wants, is a good relationship with God and bask with his blessings, a good woman, family relations, the newborn babies that make it complete, and the discernment that makes it possible are the icing on the cake! Salute Mel, this one's for you, and despite your past demeanor and the sins you can't disclose, You, my friend, are on the right track. And I had the great opportunity to hear your story. Right or wrong, your discernment allows a new world to explore and it is a sad fact too many people yearned for but yet never reached that accomplishment. But we, my friend, are blessed enough to comprehend it and to live it. And I personally don't fear death. Why should I? After all, it is natural and a part of life. And I will live within my children and their children. Plus I feel I've met my purpose, plus, my soul consists of energy and energy can't fail to exist regardless of any attempts to change that.

This is a perfect example of how comeplete strangers are only a few degrees from good friends. Maybe this is just rambling but keep doing what youre doing. Both of you! Great KZbin recommendation of Mel Chancey we need him to do a podcast with Michael Franzese because their stories of them both living the street life and both having a second chance at redemption and helping others.

Stumbled across this video. Talk about a huge motivation. Hope the documentary gets aired if on Netflix in Canada. As I’ve always had a passion for the gym, but just recently got out of the game. Went back into it for a couple months after being away from it for 2 year. It got so bad I was almost killed over something I didn’t have anything to do with. I’ve managed for the most part to calm situations down. But I too have begun finding my peace with the lord. I tell people my story and get told I’m an inspiration. Mel is definitely an inspiration

I’m 54, have done a lot of things, maybe not to Mel’s level. One thing that hit me was, I started knowing God, and slid away for many years. One day I picked up my Bible and began reading again. Funny thing was that I wasn’t just reading, all of a sudden, I understood. I wasn’t just reading, I understood what I was reading!!! Just like Mel, God opened my mind. I say every day to people I talk to God about, it fine that you don’t have my faith, when God wants you to understand, he will explain it to you! Thanks guys, this video made my evening!

I worked with an Outlaw in the late 90's in Chicago. I was in my late teens and got partnered up with that guy. He'd just gotten out of the FBI lockup. They'd taken everything from him. His house, cars, bikes, etc. Once we became friendly the stories were insane. The Outlaws learned how to build bombs when the Italian mob started contracting them for hits. Ex soldiers and even some talk of IRA contacts. They were possibly running guns into Northern Ireland and made contacts that way. If I didn't end up quitting that job because I was a complete fuck up I probably would have ended up hanging around with those guys. I'd been to their clubhouse a few times by that point and got to know several of them. A lot of them are dead now. Hard living and other stuff.

Great podcast. Humble man and a good example of the fundamentals of religion, God is powerful and submitting to the Almighty is is necessary to move in the right direction. His story reminds me of how lucky I am to be alive, healthy and providing for my children. Growing up living the fast life and surviving is not like working hard and being loyal to God. No one wants to die under bad terms, getting right with God and all the people we have hurt is essential to making the amends needed to put the past in the past. Glad you made it Mel. Keeping it real is only possible with the truth and accepting the mistakes of the past, then doing our best to teach the younger generation not to give up and that its never too late to be a good person, a good father, a good Christian, good American, and a good example for others. You are helping others by sharing your life experience, thank you for sharing.
