016 Milling long lumber

This is a quick video about how to mill exceptionally long lumber. I show how it doesn't have to be perfect coming of the jointer and how to Joint the edge using a tracksaw. Also you'll get to see how beautiful Sapele can be. Usually it's straight grained but sometimes it looks like this.

Hi, welcome back! That was a super nice piece of wood that almost seems wasted on that application! I wonder if putting some words in your description, that tell which tools you were using in the video might help some people find you. I wonder is comments are included in searches... There must be a lot of people searching for Festool TS 55 or TS 75 every day. Which was that? :) Was that the really, really long Festool track you were using, was it (197" Guide Rail FS 5000)? I bought the Makita (SP6000J) with the short guide rail. I was agonizing about how to cut the zero clearance strip all the way to the ends, but I see now that it doesn't really have to be done! If you used a shorter guide rail, did you just re-position the guide rail and keep on runnin' down the track (kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3SXXmpoesiVd9E)? I was thinking I might be able to clamp a block, slide the rail and keep going?

+Dahut Hey Dahut. Its Good to be back buddy. I will absolutely update the description. I kinda threw this one up in a hurry cuz I wanted to get back into it. The tracksaw is the TS55 and no it wasn't the super long track, I just linked a few together. When the track is that long it doesn't necessarily have to be clamped. The non skid on the back really does work well. If I had to use just one short track I would probably snap a chalkline on the material first then just keep moving down the piece of lumber. I think you'd get it pretty accurate that way. I'll post another video about straightening material with the tablesaw as well. Its a trick I used to use before I had a tracksaw on jobsites.

You have all the tools. But it's not the arrow that makes the Indian... Work on your skills. Pretty off . No point in having badass tools and no knowledge on how to use them.

Just bought a small 6 inch jointer and found out you need to build extension tables to effectively flatten long boards. This video doesnt make sense
