PEAK DISTRICT WALK FEATURING BASLOW, FROGGATT AND CURBAR EDGES
"Companion in Curbar”
Filmed 18th April 2014
Post-production completed 14th June 2014
Curbar Edge is one of the most popular gritstone edges in the Peak District. I decide to go on a circular walk here, which also takes in the neighbouring Baslow and Froggatt Edges…..
Filmed in the Peak District in the county of Derbyshire featuring Baslow Edge, Curbar Edge and Froggatt Edge. Other locations include the villages of the same name and Grindleford.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

As with all the films I make, this is a mini-movie of my personal journey along the walk, in which I might share some of my own personal stories, and not actually intended to be a guide to the area.

It is great to see people out there enjoying the Countryside but it is nicer far from the madding crowds. Great vlog Patrick, thank you for sharing.

Another most excellent video, Patrick. You chose a brilliant day weatherwise, for walking along the tops of those of those Edges. I can't believe how huge some of those rock formations are up there, they're astounding. What a lovely area, with spectacular views across the Chatsworth estate and beyond. It's understandable as to why you went back up on Curbar Edge towards the end of this film, which has been a real gem. Many thanks.

Great video Patrick! I will definitely have to return to the Peak District one day. One week was definitely not enough, although I did achieve quite a bit back in 2014. Thanks for showing us around.

Ah the first of the short films, it was a long day filming this I remember. Curbar Edge is just up the road from me so it was lovely to make this film when I did. Thanks for watching Del. Cheers, Patrick :)

Hi Patrick, another lovely film of somewhere I used to climb. The music, once more, is wonderful, especially the variation of the theme I liked so much on your Stanage film (starting at 11.29). I'm really enjoying these walks :)

In a field just below Baslow Edge, there are 5 graves belonging to the Cundy family who lived at nearby Grislow Field Farm. The Plague came to Curbar in 1632. The footpath to these graves is next to that Curbar please drive slowly sign. There are also plague victims buried below the Wesleyan Reform Chapel. That footpath also leads to a round building known as Curbar Lock Up.

What a relaxing and memorable walk this was to be sure. As you chat away we feel that we are getting to know the 'real' Patrick now, rather than the one in the dramas of earlier. And not a mention of the dreaded shredding machine in this narrative thank goodness!

This is the first of the shorter films, and the format I still continue now which work a lot better for me. No shredding machines here indeed, just beautiful views! :)

That was brilliant Patrick, feel like I'v been on the walk with you, stunning views and great weather for it too. Having just watched seventeen hour long films, this one just flew by at sixteen minutes, great film as they always are, thankyou. As much as I liked the style in the earlier films,a rucksack and outdoor clothing is much more sensible than a leather bikers jacket and no provisions, instead relying on pubs on the walk. Really enjoyed this, loving the music in them too. Pete.

I decided the shorter films would work better now that I knew I would be sharing them on KZbin. After making this first one I realised that the format was going to work so much better for me and for those watching. Thanks for your great comments as always Pete 😀

Starting to watch your back catalogue Patrick and what a wonderful way to begin , on your own doorstep , and curbers edge ,and frogatt ,s edge , gave us a chance to take in some of the marvellous view,s in Derbyshire mate , so thanks , Can i just ask , the selfie stick shots what was the reasoning behind that , or was it just to capture your expressions ... Either way a very enjoyable trip , Thank you for sharing it with us .....Kind Regards ... Frank and Lee .......

I’ve always filmed the selfie shots because I’m just a poser! :-) :-) To be fair there are various reasons, but I feel the films work better with a point of reference, especially in scenes, for example, when I film a selfie close up then cut to what I’m looking at, I think it makes it a little more interesting and gives it a more dramatic feel, which you will have seen in some of the other films you’ve already watched. I also like to show that I’m actually in the places where I film. You can see now why I moved to Derbyshire when you watch this; Curbar Edge being just up the road from home is a great place where you can just go for an afternoon stroll. Thanks Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)
