Took 9 highway yesterday morning. Roads still a sheet of ice. Of course you have idiots riding your bumper. I have a rear wheel drive truck. I am not going to go 55 on ice

All I can say is I live in KC and we haven't seen a storm like this in a long while thunder sleet, rain and about 6-8 of snow and thunder snow if you have no reason to be out in blizzard conditions then don't drive. Don't expect the plows to plow the streets when 1 to 2 inches per hour that was coming down expect hazardous conditions. But there are people who don't use common sense stay home. People with four wheel drive were having problems does that tell people anything. Listen to meteorologist or local authorities don't be out if you don't have to they closed all the schools for a reason many businesses closed we even closed early cause it was too dangerous

@Noah agree, I drive a trailblazer and still noticed some problems in 4x4 but watching some lady that day in her two wheel drive mini Cooper trying to climb a hill without even a running start and then wonders why she's stuck in the ditch 🤦

I was going to suggest just stay home. People these days feel like their cars can do and go anywhere. Just go sit in a Subaru showroom and listen to them talk. I own a minivan, VW Atlas w/4motion, and a Jeep. Even I know they have their limits. Waiting for this to hit SE Michigan.

Was going to say the same thing about turning traction control off when you're stuck. Even in 4wd vechicles.. that traction control being on can sometimes stunt your forward progress.

Depends on the vehicle. Some modern systems are pretty impressive. The worst are people who spin their tires then melt themselves a nice little "ice bowl" for their tires to sit in, lol. Leave a cheap plastic shovel and a 50# bag of kitty litter in the trunk and you'll probably never be stuck anywhere on pavement for very long.

These weather scenes is just like playing with puppies or kittens. You want to play with Grizzly Bears, Polar Bears, and sharks analogy wise? Then drive across Red Mountain Pass in a snowstorm and not the higher sustained winds of a blizzard. Another example is driving on U.S. Highway 6 from Interstate I-70 to Keystone Ski Resort area. That only crosses the Continental Divide at a height of 11,990 FEET.

This is what I anticipated. More snow to come too over the next few hours. Forecasts were a little too bearish on the snowfall amounts, looks like a solid 6-10" for the city as opposed to the 2-6" they were forecasting.
