The thing about those C7 Vettes is they feel slow at 120, 130mph... they really are built to comfortably cruise at those speeds.

Yes I have a 2016 c7 z06. Not too sure if this is a z06 but when your in touring mode going 60mph it feels like 30mph. When your going 100 mph it feels like 70 mph. Very well built over all car. Now in track mode it's a different story. The steering is very stiff as is the suspension. The car jumps around alot.

They do not believe in running rainwater runoff through conduit in California. Runoff is at surface level. What he ran over was a concrete drainage channel. They can be pretty big and pretty deep. And they will tear apart the front end of your car, never mind the cats and mufflers. Even when you slow down you scrape things. I'm sure something on that car is damaged, as well as running over the pylon.
@JJFX-
@JJFX- 9 ай бұрын
@@Orcinus1967 Yeah I see that and am well aware of how terrible these can be around here. Regardless the placement is far from ideal which I guarantee has caused issues. There's a similar drainage ditch by a sharp turn near where I grew up which caused a few accidents over the years. Many of the roads in and around LA are simply awful and don't even get me started on the pothole problem.

@@paulswarthout9967 Big thing a few years ago of how auto manufacturers would install LoJack enabled for police to slow then shut off vehicles safely. It's the same people that hate gun laws and hold up freedom MAGA. Nobody puts rules on me... CRAP. Rules are there to help the general public not protect the rights of criminals. Trump hates how he isn't getting away with lying on his taxes and to the banks. Remember how the GOP platform in 2016 was less gov't and reduce the IRS? Well, now we SHOULD know why... but don't of course. Illegal offshore accounts... well that's another bag of crap only MAGA benefits from, well, those with big bags of cash to hide fund the MAGA movement. They donate to the RNC so Trump can afford his lawyers. He loses anyways but they throw good money out to bad anyways. Now we SHOULD see why that is with Trump giving himself a huge tax cut and all his big bag rich people... but we don't. Anyone who make tons of cash like CNN/Fox News people benefited from those tax cuts. Silence and fake news is real but for a good reason, to get rich. Middle Class has to foot the bills for the national debt for % of wages earned. Rich pay more but dollar for dollar, they pay less, especially when they hide their money in offshore accounts. Do they talk about this on the news? Rarely for obvious reasons. Too long winded, probably lost 90% of the readers by now. This is the true American Dream, ignorance is blind.

That's a 2019 Vette, possibly a mid engine VETTE! If it's a C8, it may go faster than 170. You can't do a pit maneuver on a Fiberglass body, it's incredibly dangerous, if you want the occupant to survive! If anyone has a need for speed, take it to the track, if you want to drive like a maniac! Why doesn't the CHiP take this Vette, and make it part of their fleet? They have a transaxle, like my Porsche, so they don't fishtail, like the older ones. Has anti-skid brakes, etc. I've no idea why he rabbited, usually those of us w/muscle cars, don't do this. I've had many, since a teenager.

@@Bigwave2003 They only become high speed when chased. The chase vehicle sets the speed. If they do 50 the one being chased does 60 or 150 and 160. Just radio in the plate, follow at a distance until they can be stopped safely. If the original infraction is not more dangeros than a chase its hard to justify and many police divisions will not initiate a chase for these reasons. Could be you or one of your loved ones caught in the crossfire. A cop was recently fired for an unauthorized chase after killing a family of five that he hit and with a citizan in his back seat at the time. I am not anti cop by any means but these chases can get way out of hand once started and cops and citizans get hurt often for no good reason and often they are not productive as well.

It's not difficult, just drive to a tower block, I have many friends in such buildings or a large shopping centre, get out walk to the clothing store go into the charging rooms or just buy a different top and wear it out. Or the one I've heard just keep driving a helicopter runs out of fuel faster than you. Depending on the area we just have one helicopter here. Driving on the freeway doesn't work as police radios are faster than you. They just get cars ahead and radio them. You can outrun radio waves I know a few people who used the large tower block of flats way to escape the police a few times as they couldn't search 100 flats and they didn't have grounds either. They just say the car was stolen the next day. I know one guy who just jumped in the passenger seat when his friend got out to run and said the friend was driving. That one shocked me.

When I got my twin turbo 3000 GT VR-4 many years ago (not nearly the car that this one is, but speedometer goes to 180 and top speed is actually 162 mph), the sales person advised me to “drive it like you stole it“. I had to see what my car could do at some point. When you put all the money to make it quicker/faster, you’re always curious. My original setup would barely touch 120 but my Speedo goes to 160 but there has been a few instances where I have got it up to 160 and it doesn’t take very long to reach it if you have a straight enough road. 170 miles an hour for vehicle code violations? How can they justify this pursuit at these speeds for this length of time for that reason?

At 27:27 when he disappeared on that last corner, if he continued almost directly straight, there is a parking garage access for a condo complex above that spans to the other side of the block, where there is another garage access onto S Olive St. The reporters helo pilot put too many tall buildings between them and the second access to see if he comes out or not, even if so how long did he stay inside? She said he seemed lost, but after his first maneuver through the side streets, I think all his turns were to throw off the cops and overhead observers, then made a line where he seemed to know that garage was there and not gated. Maybe his place or someone he knows. This guy was "Gone in 60 sec" smooth imo.

So he wouldn’t park in the garage because the cops can simply narrow down their search and find the car parked. Or you’re saying there are multiple entrances and exits into and out of the garage?
@Carnutz-d8t
@Carnutz-d8t 8 ай бұрын
@@HarrisonHollers I should of clarified that it might be a gated community needing access to get in, not just a basic bar people can walk past. (Do police have on demand access to gated garages?) It makes sense someone of such a community could afford the car. However, he might just know someone living there so he was familiar with the second street access on the other side, a block over. Not many private garages have 2 accesses let alone stretching across the middle of a city block, maybe on a corner or end of block location.
@HarrisonHollers
@HarrisonHollers 8 ай бұрын
@@Carnutz-d8t ok thanks. This was really cool to watch - obviously disregarding all the threats to public and legal ramifications. Never seen someone get away. I still think parking the car allows the cops to narrow down their search and find the car. Then tow it or track it? Just thinking out loud. Appreciate your update.

Vehicle code violations is not a reason to do a car chase at 170 mph. Police should discontinue the chase.if suspect crashes and kills someone the police agency is liable.

Yes, I am surprised at how few comments reflect your sentiment as it is a practice in many jurisdictions scattered about the country and becoming more prevalent (should be saturating the country by now). But so many people feel the risk or the cost of innocent people's lives is somehow worth it. Take his plate #, wait for him at his house, arrest him, fine him, jail him, move on.
@unseenstalkr
@unseenstalkr 9 ай бұрын
@@richcarrCCC I get all of that, but what if the car is stolen? Half or more of these chases i bet are stolen cars. And even when the cops back off, that doesnt = criminal slowing down to try and get away. There are no good solutions when someone is willing to run from the cops no matter the reason. 10 year minimum in my opinion if you lead police on a high speed pursuit. but they gotta get you is the game i guess.

Lessons learned... 1) Choppers can only do about 150 mph. 2) Know how to drive. 3) Know your area (and a good gps) 4) Have a switch to kill all your back lights (including your plafe light). 5) Make sure you keep your tank full. And NEVER ever try to outrun the police! 😉

I was a bit confused as to how whoever was recording did not notice. maybe its video quality and we don't recognize difference if quality is good enough, there still didn't recall the fast speeds they went that they could have easily made it to the other side. Also when turning right, they went on like 3 lanes. Even if that was a one way street, that is not how one turns lanes. I was really expecting the person to get caught. Back in the late 80's I was riding my bicycle to work one early Sunday morning when I came across an intersection in an industrial park where it was very apparent that a really bad accident had happened there. A local pizza company had had their yearly awards celebration the night before where a young manager was awarded the use of the company's canary yellow Corvette for the full month. The police reported an estimated speed of 100+ mph when the car hit a telephone pole exploding it into a fireball of fiberglass and engine components plus parts and pieces of the driver and his date. There wasn't anything left to determine use of alchohol or drugs for a DWI certainty but witnesses said cocaine and alcohol were probably a factor as the two had been seen taking them and showing signs of impairment because of it. I went back to the crash site after it had been cleaned up, and with the exception of yellow colored fiberglass shreds and melted aluminum fragments laying around a large burnt spot, there was nothing to suggest that two humans died there. The telephone pole aside from a little splintering was left barely showing a sign. I go by there even 40+ years later and think about it.
