My 4.7 loses pressure when I come to a stop or going real slow. Goes back up when I get on the throttle. My oil level is fine. Went from 5w 30 to 10w 30 switch oil pressure sensor and still does that. I was thinking it’s the oil tube screen that’s clogged? Think it could be my oil pump too?
@im234life3 жыл бұрын
What is your rpm say when you're losing oil pressure? If rpm drops then your gonna lose pressure . Fix idle issue if that's the case. If your rpm doesn't drop when losing oil pressure , then I could be serious. Doubt it'll be clogged in the oil tube it self but maybe the screen . Hopefully you change oil often. But it could be the pump is worn or you're losing pressure due to bad bearings on crankshaft (that's the bad one) these 4.7 have poor oil circulation and can build up sludge. Hopefully it's the first one I mentioned cause a bad vacuum leak will drop the rpm and in turn lose oil pressure. I've seen this first hand with a crack in the intake. Good luck

@@im234life the same thing for me, idle drop just under 500 rpm. what make drop down rpm ?
@im234life9 ай бұрын
@DelormeChris try a couple of things. First do an engine flush which will clean the sludge out. Then go up on weight on the oil . That dont work then do a poor mans fix by setting the idle just a little higher. If you have high mileage on the engine, probably the crank barings are going bad. If the higher Viscosity oil helps out then I'd definitely say the barings are going bad. Does it do it when the engine is cold? No, again the crank barings may be going bad. So far ive seen 4 engines like this not including mine. Seen another guy took one his vacuum line and drilled a hole so that it would the rpm. Good luck

Is this a high volume?
@im234life Жыл бұрын
No. I would rather have a high pressure. So I drive kinds hard so high volume oil pumps could drain the oil out the pan faster .

Do did u take it off without lifting the engine? And since the gasket has a seal did u still have to put a sealer?
@MrAcer44 ай бұрын
He said removed cross member. You don't have to raise engine. Everyone says you have to but you don't have to it's excess
@mr.anderson74364 жыл бұрын
So if it is a 4x4 do you have to raise the engine? Or can you do like you did and remove cross member and transmission bracket?
@im234life4 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the 4X4 models. I'm sorry I can't give you a personal experience answer on that but I've heard from a lot of sources that you do have to lift the engine. Though it wouldn't hurt to try removing the cross member, you have to remove the transmission bracket anyways. Let me know if you try it that way. Thanks for commenting!

Issac Moreno I’ve lifted my engine and still can’t get this thing out.. already split the gasket from the pan but the pan has no clearance!!!

OIL PAN REMOVAL (1) Disconnect the negative battery cable. (2) Install engine support fixture special tool # 8534. Do not raise engine at this time. (3) Loosen both left and right side engine mount through bolts. Do not remove bolts. (4) Remove the structural dust cover, if equipped. (5) Drain engine oil. (6) Remove the front crossmember(Refer to 13 - FRAME & BUMPERS/FRAME/FRONT CROSSMEMBER - REMOVAL). CAUTION: Only raise the engine enough to provide clearance for oil pan removal. Check for proper clearance at fan shroud to fan and cowl to intake manifold. (7) Raise engine using special tool # 8534 to provide clearance to remove oil pan. NOTE: Do not pry on oil pan or oil pan gasket. Gasket is integral to engine windage tray and does not come out with oil pan. (8) Remove the oil pan mounting bolts and oil pan. NOTE: The double ended oil pan studs must be installed in the same location that they were removed from. My friend says it's really tight and this is the way he did it in steps, as mentioned before I don't have personal experience with the 4x4 set up. If we were there, we would be able to help more...

No special tools required. I used a long flathead screwdriver to pop the pan loose from the gasket. Need to replace the gasket anyway. When the crossmember is removed you have just enough space to wiggle the pan out as long as the oil dipstick is removed.

If you're not sure of doing this work then you probably should have a friend that is mechanically inclined to aid you in this repair. For me it was really easy but I've been around these motor for 20 years. Good luck if you do decide to it yourself self.
