The Russian military is by far the most incompetent I've ever observed in my entire career, if not my lifetime. Let's see some Chechen geniuses firing at nothing with an AK in each arm like they're posing for a movie-- because they are. The first time we saw that we looked at each other and said "Are you f'in kidding me? Russia lost the first Chechen war to these clowns?" Ridiculous. And they acted *proud* of it. They actually *thought* this made them look tough. No clue how every professional military person on the planet was rolling their eyes, or laughing. And it only got worse. The First Guard Tank Army **ran** rom a bunch of Hummers in Kharkiv. Seriously? And now their clinging to the hope that Trump gives them **permission** to take territory they haven't been able to take themselves. But it's not up to Trump. They don't seem to understand that.
@RichardTaylor1630Күн бұрын
"....now THEY'RE clinging to the hope that Trump will give them *permission* to take territory they haven't been able to take themselves." If Pres. Trump were planning anything of that sort, he would not have appointed Mike Waltz as his National Security Advisor, or Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. Nor would he have chosen Keith Kellogg as his special envoy for ruzzian and Ukraine. It's funny how the ruzzians seem to think that Pres. Trump is going to do ruzzia some huge favor, even after nude photos of Mrs. Trump have been plastered all over ruzzian state TV, and the detestable warmonger Skabayeva has hurled insults at Gen. Kellogg.

When you fight, you can’t expect to not suffer repercussions, but choosing not to fight is worse in the end.
@gero42Күн бұрын
Yeah, well, not EVERY politician but some indeed do. Even Selensky mentioned that it is one possible way forward to give up occupied territory temporarily for a ceasefire to be able to reclaim the occupied territories by means of negotiations afterwards. I don't think that this is a good way forward because the Russians won't negotiate in earnest. They will just drag this out until they have recovered and then they will attack again. Trump may even be stupid enough to lift the sanctions or a ceasefire so that he can fulfill his stupid statement that he will broker a ceasefire in 24 hours.
@martimasters7704Күн бұрын
Ukraine has already won. President Zelensky is now in a position of power. He doesn't care what that orange-haired loon presents as a peace plan. With Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Korea supercharged with top notch war support packages, Mordor is not in a good place for demanding anything. Bla Bla Bladimir would be smart to re-deploythe entire orc army of war criminals to the Caucasus and pretend it's to protect Mother Ruzzia. Meanwhile, Ukraine will quietly reclaim the former occupied territories and make the application to join NATO. Bladimir is not stupid and he will figure out that the off-ramp provided by the Caucasus is a gift to save face and the orc army won't have to fire a shot. It's sole purpose is to make Bladimir look like a wise, victorious leader, who got Kursk back into the fold and ensures that no more terrorists attacks from Chechnya will hit the motherland. Why this would be significant, you can read this book: Blowing Up Russia. The only question is whether Bladimir accurately accesses the current situation. He is not healthy and it's possible the illness is also affective his cognitive ability. Only time will tell what happens. In the meantime, SLAVA UKRAINI !!! 🇺🇦

I think Russia is nearing a tipping point. With They are getting progressively more desperate for "wins", and like in Kursk we are seeing more and more bind charges to score a win before the winter. This is leading to massive losses with will lead to more and more desertions. Those deserters will start to let other Russians know the real state of affairs which will cause more desertion. Which will make the generals even more desperate and careless. This could hopefully lead to a total collapse.
@timtrewyn453Күн бұрын
This sounds like a local shortage of barrier troops to enforce assaults. The many salients created by their new strategy seem to be stretching the barrier troop capability beyond its limit in this case. Otherwise, desertion is not an option.

I'm really hopeful that your logic holds true ! But maybe Trump's inauguration, rather than winter has something more to do with it. @@realiteechecka Even if they hear the Ukranian claims they're unlikely to believe them. However, they will have a decent idea of how many of their own unit have been killed or wounded. And if you know that in the last week your own unit has taken more casualties than Moscow admits to for the entire army, and that your current casualty rate is say 5 or 10x what it was in the summer, it'd be perfectly reasonable for those soldiers to decide to mutiny rather than die in a futile assault tomorrow or next week.

I'm not sure why that other commenter asked why you were asking - isn't a richer understanding why we are all here? Usually they are taken out by the Chechen backing troops. Clearly that didn't happen this time. I am also curious why. Does Putin just have too many active directions to block all of them with Chechens? Has Kadyrov become less involved since getting into his own beef with that oligarch from Dagestan? If so that would be important news, if Kadyrov feels free to ignore Putin's priorities. At the time of Kharkiv it happened because the entire front on the russian side was badly disorganized and undermanned. Russia was trying to get away with using far fewer troops than he has now. Come to think of it, we didn't see the backing troops then either. I assume that is because the size of the area abandoned was just too vast and they were surprised. If you recall, Ukraine had been fainting that it would attack Kherson instead, and then fell on Kharkiv. Good question.

@@realiteechecka Yep. Negative morale is cumulative. And if you've seen how bad things are now, and you know it'll be worse over the winter, then it makes sense that some would see the writing on the wall and try and get out.

I think it's actually easy to understand, the ones who are at the contact line, evaporate very fast, and are replaced by the next wave of prisoners/people promised a lot of cash to sign up, they don't get told the reality of their chances before the first BMP in the convoy blows up. So there is very little feedback or reserve units to start panicking, word doesn't get out very much. The current russian gov is actually pretty good at 'sourcing' their troops from the most backwater areas they can and mixing them in groups so there is as little crosstalk and building of camaraderie as possible. Thats a big difference with 1917 where the tzar had already been deposed and they had 2 different revolutions causing a government change in that same year before the bolsheviks started essentially sabotaging the entire military command chain by allowing common soldiers to form decision groups by themselves. Things unraveled very quickly after that.

I wondered when the Rus soldiers would mutiny. I got the feeling this war is not popular in Rus, and the soldiers are being sent simply to 💀 with no proper trading, and them unpopular with Rus pubic. Rasputin is nuts. I don’t know why he attacked 🇺🇦 in the 1st place. Just dumb. I do not blame the Rus soldiers. Wishing to “defend” one’s country is honorable, but Rasputin is on some nonsense and sending soldiers to fight for stupid cause, when Ukraine 🇺🇦 wasn’t minding their own business!

@ I figured there had to be “something,” bec I had not heard of Ukraine 🇺🇦 as a nation causing any trouble. Next thing, Rus messing with that country, instead of perhaps 🤔 approaching honorably to strike an honerable deal with Ukraine 🇺🇦 for something to benefit both countries. This is very sad for everyone involved. In addition, I have long wished to visit Rus as a tourist. Now I am nearly ready to travel and retire, but I probably won’t get to visit Rus. I used to wish to visit since a girl when it was still Soviet Union. This war is bad news and I don’t think its popular with the ppl of the count try or with the soldiers-It’s “officials” who sit safe in offices. Of course, my hearts goes out to brave Ukraine. No winners in this awful war.

The barrier troops must have been relocated to Kursk to herd the NKs into battle. But this is just a small, local collapse. I suspect Putin retains the confidence that his superior numbers will inevitably prevail. The Ukrainians have made good use of that confidence. The tragedy is that only now is Ukraine starting to get the kind of capability to disrupt Russian logistics it has always needed. Russia has to maintain a high level of logistical support to achieve numerical superiority on the battlefield. If that support wanes, the large forces grow short of ammunition, food, and other necessary supplies. That sets up desertion and retreat and Ukraine's careful, tactical recovery of territory. Look for Russia to push a redistribution of barrier troops to plug this hole. Sadly, Russian numerical superiority does give them months if not years of further endurance. Ukraine needs to pick territory for recovery very carefully. The development of Ukrainian air power has been too little, and if not accelerated, will expose Ukraine again in the future to the disadvantage of inadequate air power. Air power with good ISR could punch holes in the barrier troops.
