On the relationship conversation at the end, and inherent insecurities in us all, there's a book called "Hold onto your NUTs" (slightly provocative name, but a good read) that's worth reading. One of the things it emphasises, which is important, is men being able to have open, honest and healthy conversations with other men, confide in them. In a nutshell like what you guys demonstrated. So more of that is a less emphasised, but rather important, key towards dealing with one's insecurities and being able to open up about vulnerability for most men.
