023 || Preparing to move 24.000 liters of waste

Today our friends from Belgium are leaving (thank you so much for helping out!), and some other friends from the Netherlands are here to help us out. We are prepping to move all of the collected rubbish to a container so it can get picked up. But as always, before we really can get started, we need to prepare some things.

My name is Sam and together with my girlfriend Lyanne, I am on a quest to restore the beauty of this old Italian villa from 1895. Join us as we have to let go of our Dutch habits to fit in in our Italian surroundings, were the word 'plan' gets redefined and our tastebuds are awakened.
The goal of this project is to show that with limited financial means and a lot of optimism we can resurrect the beauty of this abandoned villa in a green and sustainable way. But most of all learn from everything that we encounter and enjoy it whilst we're at it.

Keep contact with the previous owner. They may have more knowledge on the sewage system. Or they may know who to contact concerning that matter. Also: How are the kittens doing?! I wonder about them. Nice you get help! Good luck with the next efforts!

What a beautiful villa. While watching you and your friends using shovels to clear the weeds, I was wondering if it would be easier for you to use a brush cutter. A company called Stihl make them. I’m sure you are aware of them and I’m just being annoying! I don’t intend to be at all, but figure it would be faster to clear the weeds and overgrowth. You did start using a line trimmer, but a brush cutter would be better in my humble opinion. Anyway, I am in awe of you all!

Did you plant mint/ peppermint into the soil? They are 2 of the most encrosive plants. If they take hold, you will have a nearly impossible task of removing them. Always plant them in a pot. Wishing you much luck.

Yeah, but the day you don't show up assuming they won't show up on time, they'll be early. We call it Murphy's Law! The trick is to fill the container/dumpster with your garbage before the neighbors decide to use it to clear out their junk!!!

Either content or cinematography is the key to a good KZbin video. Your last offering, unfortunately, provided neither; waiting for a container and beginning to fill a hole is boring. Take this as a well-meaning constructive comment, you have to choose your poison, but either beautiful or interesting (ideally both). Don't be afraid to script what is happening, because even waiting for an Italian dumpster bin can be made hilarious, and entertaining. Just bitching about it, and implying that "it's just usual Italian BS" does not achieve a positive image and frankly makes you sound winey. Also if you are trying to make a point of not using mechanized equipment either through the necessity of economy or because of your convictions, then say it often so people understand the struggle. If it is the former good for you if it is the latter then using a chemical toilet is really not the way to go, rather expedite the process of building an ecological and simple septic system (you seem to have mad plumber skills... it's time to showcase these). Using the labor of friends is great, but if you do you have to show how their efforts and valued and appreciated, in your past video they appear nameless and faceless. That does neither them nor you any good, and frankly makes poor video (when their gift to you has immense value), what's wrong with showing convivial time together having dinner or something... There is no getting around scripting your videos, otherwise, there is no story, only that movie that is in your head. what you are doing is inherently intersting, renovating an Italian great house is a brilliant idea. At one point you will have to discuss why you are doing this. Again, this is driving a storyline that your audience with appreciate and support. Finally, using a dump rather than a recycling center to dispose of the junk, is wrong and if you don't have a choice then discuss it with the camera -- nature like that building you are restoring is part of our human heritage, you appear to not respecting it. and that will be a problem for your storyline. I like to believe that you are environmentally conscious, and these are the issues that govern your decisions, but if you assume responsibility for your waste of all kinds, a septic system is, by the way, very green. Good luck
