Thanks for the carb build refresher. Finally getting around to a full rebuild and mod of one of my 61s and have been rewatching your 200 series stuff. The same way you speak of others having a nice calm and centered energy, you also project your energy the same way and when you couple that to the way you explain things it’s always been very easy for me to understand. Much love and appreciation for everything you’ve done over the years. Good luck on the Harley hunt. I bought my dad’s 72 Shovel (FX built to FLH) and put the 400th mile on it since the bike was built by him over 25 years ago. After completing it he found out he had Multiple Sclerosis and even though he bought the extra side wheeled Voyager kit he just never really got out on it much. Needs a few seals changed from sitting and a new ignition switch so I for one would love it if you picked up a Shovel. I always had Japanese and mostly dirt bikes so I’m a bit out of my element. Again thank you for everything that you’ve always put out there for all of us.

This was a nice review on the meat and potatoes of carb rebuilding. I haven't done one in a long time, and if you don't use it, you lose it.

I removed the ethanol out of all my two-stroke fuel by adding a spray of water to it then letting it sit for an hour and then drain the water out because the alcohol is attracted to water and it will pull it out with it.

This is not a complete carb rebuild. Welsh plugs should be removed and replaced after the fuel/air passages underneath them are blown clear with carb spray. Also, I didn’t see where the hi-lo fuel mixture screws were removed and their passages cleaned out with carb cleaner. It is critical to clean air-fuel mixture passages, which was not done here at all. Finally, there are usually check valves in these carbs, which often get stuck, warped and/or sometimes torn. Putting the completely disassembled carb body into an ultrasonic cleaning bath can sometimes free-up and rejuvenate stuck check valves….but not torn ones. Simply replacing pump gaskets, needle valves, fuel filters and metering diaphragms alone will not fix a bad carb if passages are clogged or if check valves are bad. The latter are very difficult if not impossible to remove and replace. A bad check valve usually means a new carb is needed. This is why so many cheap Chinese carb clones are now sold on Amazon. The difference in cost between a carb rebuild gasket kit, and a brand new Chinese carburetor is almost minuscule these days. Dr. K.

Just picked up an 028 that runs. Needs some minor fixes and a pipe. This carb build has made me not stress to much on taking mine apart and putting a kit in it

Hey Bud, I hope all is well with you and the family! I am into this build with you, but not having my shop is killing me. I am in such a depressed state all the time. Later friend.

There's dozens of different ways to accomplish just about any task, I could share how I would've gone about that carb but it doesn't matter. What does, is that it got done and correctly👍🏻 Of all the carb kits I've used over the years, not one has come in one of those nifty cases. I also caught the buy, sell, trade bug with vehicles from a good friend. Moved 10-15 vehicles a year for a few years lol. Then, when he got called home in 2015 I lost interest in that game.

Hope your carburetor has a better tuning window than my 026 does. I was put yesterday and found it to have a very small amount of tuning! Maybe like a 1/8 turn? I got another one coming OEM just to see what is up? Anyone else have a. small adjustment window with your 026 carb?

Hello, a little off topic question So if i use a sthil ms210 crankshaft to the ms250 piston and cylynder (the ms210 crank rod is smaller by 4.5mm) Is it worth to try or gonna be less power than the normal ms 210 build ?
@tinmanssaws4 ай бұрын
If the rod is shorter I'd say that probably won't work.
