I am in awe of the hand-clockmaking skills you demonstrate here. Thanks for the video!

Really helpful Matthew. It is amazing how often this detent is missing ( or has been removed/ lost)

Thanks Ian. Yes, I can only think it was removed to disable the striking? Cannot thinks why else it was removed? M

@@howtorepairpendulumclocks If I remove parts to disable the striking I fix them to the clock for future re-use. To dispose of them shows a lack of respect and regard.

@@jonka1 Agreed. Yes it is usually possible to disable without removing parts. I guess the approach/values have changed over the years. M

Oh, that is nice. Really like the way you have rounded and shaped it, looks really like the count wheel detent. Will you be re-bushing everything?
@howtorepairpendulumclocks Жыл бұрын
Hi Jon. Thanks for your kind feedback. I will be carrying out some bushing. I always try keep it to a minimum with thin-walled bushes made from wire. The pinions in the clock are very worn so it is borderline relic. I will see what is the minimum driving weight it will run open to try preserve the pinions.
