i have a nice stash of the actuators, a lot of the low spec NA Diesel T4s/Eurovans had them. I use a passat b3 clutch cable in my mk2. But i guess those won't be in stock on the other side of the pond. but the parts number is 357721335 or 357721335E it had just the right length for the mk2, but not sure if it will be the same in a mk1, what i can say is that it sure is shorter than the one you have,

The headlight knob is supposed to pull out/off when you push a button on the underside of the switch. You can see the metal behind the dash, where the bracket curves upward, the button is right there.

I used a 93 Acura Integra clutch cable in my mk2 1.8t with 02j. The pedal was very difficult to push

This cable makes it feel like a stage 3-4 vr clutch lol im mostly just worried about the cable snapping.

Do you have any more info on the speedo conversion cable. Where to source one? What car it came on?

Its a g60 corrado speedo cable 89-92 4cyl corrado I believe. This one was sold as a “swap” cable from mk1 engineering

Hey I've been watching your videos on the mk1 swap. I need help to understand some things. I'm getting an alh with 5 speed don't know the trans. Would I need the whole front assembly cv axels hubs and all
@SmithsEuro
@SmithsEuro 6 ай бұрын
Measure your oem axles If 100mm inner cv you can just bolt them to the trans If 90 you need s2 scirocco axles/late cabriolet axles and washers to space them out from the hub
@dredennis113
@dredennis113 2 жыл бұрын
Have you thought of putting a ALH in the rabbit? Or did you want this for simplicity?
@SmithsEuro
@SmithsEuro 2 жыл бұрын
Ahu due to simplicity, and cost. I got a running driving swap from an mk3 for $1200 with everything. I sold a few parts off it as well to bring the costs down, plus sold the old 5spd 020 I like alh but the ahu doesn’t need a tune/immo delete, or a custom engine mount. Much easier to wire in as well.

@@SmithsEuro I figured with your ability to read a flow diagram since most can’t do it that you had or knew someone to immo delete. I seen something With a 3.6 you were doing? I’m guessing not a DI 3.6 and just a Touareg or Porsche style? Just wondering what management you used. I put a AFP in my coupe. But I do have a 3.2 out of a Eos. That I have thought about doing.
@SmithsEuro
@SmithsEuro 2 жыл бұрын
Immo in mk4 up is all software. Mk3 based harness is easy to bypass, only wires needed. All 3.6 are di Im doing a port injection conversion and fueltech to be able to tune myself on the fly. Would be very limited on a race car keeping oem management.
@dredennis113
@dredennis113 2 жыл бұрын
@@SmithsEuro was confused with your reply until I read mine again. That “not” wasn’t supposed to be there. I was wondering more on what you were gonna use for management on the 3.6. But you explained that. Sorry for the confusion. Didn’t know if you would keep DI. I’m gonna have to watch a few more of your videos. I’m sure they will answer more of my questions. Feel like I jumped into a conversation halfway. But If you ever want a immo alh ecu and harness I have a few. It’s 5 wires you need to connect to anything. Ce1 or ce2. Even a Nissan 240. And you already figured out the speed sensor issue with this swap. Because the DBW wants to see a speed input. Or it will be sluggish from time to time.

@@SmithsEuro and the Touareg and Porsche style 3.6 have the rear mount bosses threaded. Is why I said that style. The Eos 3.2 I have. I had to tap them. Because they have them. But not threaded.

Why run a clutch cable in the first place? Is it because there’s nowhere to put a hydraulic master in the mk1?
@DdoubleEE726
@DdoubleEE726 2 жыл бұрын
Plenty of places to mount a hydraulic clutch kit. Running one on my mk1 jetta. Fast bunny kit fits perfect.
@SmithsEuro
@SmithsEuro 2 жыл бұрын
Cost and simplicity really. This was less than 1/3 the hydraulic conversion. Wanted to keep it simple on the truck. And the biggest this was the issues i had in my rabbit with the fast bunny kit. It flexed my fire wall so bad he made a new revision to it which helped some. But i still had to reinforce so much under the dash with that kit
@DdoubleEE726
@DdoubleEE726 2 жыл бұрын
@@SmithsEuro weird. I have the newest kit in my mk1 jetta. No flex, no issues and pushing a stage 2 southbend clutch like it’s oem.
@SmithsEuro
@SmithsEuro 2 жыл бұрын
Im using a stage 5 clutch to be fair. He just said “well it’ll flex with that clutch”
@dredennis113
@dredennis113 2 жыл бұрын
@@DdoubleEE726 may not flex now. But the firewall isn’t any thicker than a mk2. And we used to punch the master through the firewall all the time when we first started VRs into them back in the late 90s. Unless you got a VR6 corrado pedal assembly that was stronger. This kit reminds me of the fabless kit. And the cable slave is in the euro market eurovan. With the vr6. I bought one when I worked at the dealer and used the crx cable. Just hated how long the cable was.

How's the gearing with the 02A trans work out with the tdi? I have a 02J from a low a mileage 1.8t car I got to do swap on my mk2 but was thinking of selling the 1.8t and getting a 1.9 diesel was wondering if I should keep the 02J or get a diesel trans, is 5th gear the only difference in the diesel transmissions?
@SmithsEuro
@SmithsEuro 2 жыл бұрын
Ring and pinion is different. Gearing I believe is different as well they are longer. 02j 1.8t are awful for older cars. My mk3 1.8t is at 4k rpm about 80mph. They were made for cars with 16” wheels big tires. The 02a diesel is pretty sweet in the mk1. I have no complaints i get about 45mpg on the highway. I keep up with normal traffic with no problems on 95
@trashman1694
@trashman1694 2 жыл бұрын
@@SmithsEuro Nice I'll probably just sell the 02J trans then, just was wondering since it's in good shape with only 97k miles on it. I got 14" snowflakes on the mk2 so that would probably be way too tall of gearing with a diesel engine haha
@SmithsEuro
