Here in South Wales ice and snow can cause disruption to travellers and be treacherous underfoot, especially for the elderly. Hoping for the best whilst preparing for the worst. Thank you.

On 2 nd June 1975 it snowed in Baldock Hertfordshire while I was playing cricket. Quick snowball fight and within two hours it was all gone. Statistically, we have more white Easters than white Christmas days

I remember it snowing in June then. We went to Knowsley safari park for my birthday and our ford consul broke down in the snow and we had to be towed out of the baboon area.

The definition of white seems to have changed from snow on the Met Office roof (probably privatised or inaccessible because of Health and Safety) to a few snowflakes falling anywhere, anytime. Maybe the definition needs tightening up to make sense. This isn't a forecast here, it's a list of might and could be's.

Just shows snow can happen at any time. It's snowed in April in the past and near me it once snowed a tiny bit in May but I live on higher ground near the moors

I once had snow in early June in 1998 - I lived in Peterlee on the North East Coast. I remember it well as I was in college when it happened. It felt very bizarre.

The snows not the issue, it's the ice... The warnings in place so that everyone commuting is aware of the risk of ice, which could obviously cost them a dent in their car or even their life. That's definitely worth a warning

@Met Office - UK Weather ​ I think to explain it to people not understanding the distribution of probability it might have been helpful to draw the warm front average line through the centre of the UK and then mark out the decreasing probability every 10%. Give context behind the average line like number of models run and how many times.

You've gotta love the met office and its warnings. A yellow warning for snow for goodness sake. Just say chance of some snow - why put a warning on it? We can work it out and judge for ourselves. They'll be putting out puddle warnings next everytime rain's forecast.

Feel free to work it out and judge for yourself, paying attention to the warnings isn’t compulsory. However, warnings like this have been requested by and developed with contingency planners - for example, the emergency services and traffic authorities - to help them keep people safe.

Just because you can't understand why we have a warning system it doesn't mean it's pointless, different businesses and government departments have protocols to follow during weather events for example. Stupid people are always so sure of themselves because they quite simply don't have the ability to know better.

One of my apps is predicting very heavy snow on Thursday in London (I think it uses the US model) - 29cm (of precipitation) apparently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want it to mild enough for me to run, snow is no good to run in.

How come there's a yellow weather warning for snow in northeast England? when they do the forecast on the TV and you see the snow coming down it only affects the north sea. I didn't see any snow showers over spennymoor northeast England where I live on the weather map.

Plenty of clues, as explained in the forecast. Getting cold. Snow showers early next week, especially in the north and east. 5-15 cm accumulations. From the middle of next week, a risk of more prolonged snow in the south depending on the precise track of a low that hasn’t even formed yet.
