I seen about every video on KZbin detailing how people are trying to solve their LED taillight issues for their 03-06 Silverados.
Attempts:
1. I cleaned and switched out every ground on the truck.
2. I changed out every relay and fuse that has anything to do with the taillights, signals, and brake lights.
3. I pulled headlights to check wiring
4. I changed out the headlight switch
5. I upgraded my lighting control module to an LED lighting control module.
6. I checked all wiring in the taillights and trailer lights
7. I replaced the taillight circuit board which required that I build another bracket since the old one broke apart from all the rust.
8. Bought a fuse tester and tested all fuses
9. I bought a multimeter and learned how to use it to check my power going to my lights at all the lighting sockets and after the sockets.
10. Bought a new brake switch and ignition switch that I will not have to install now as we found our issues while using the multimeter.
If you have aftermarket LED taillights and you checked all things that could be wrong with them, and they are acting up, you might need new taillights even though they appear to be working correctly at times.
Here is the Amazon link for the multimeter that I used:

Thanks Fillywardo! I appreciate it. This truck build was insane, but I have a ton of videos planned coming up in the new year. Thanks for the love.

My taillights work when my turn signal or hazards are on but when driving nothing works. Any suggestions? I’m thinking it’s something with a fuse but I’m not sure.

If they are LED taillights, I would imagine without getting my hands on it that the drivers are bad inside that light and that the tail lights will need replaced. Mine were doing weird stuff like that as well. The electrical boards in them that relay what the light needs to do aren't the toughest. If you get a multimeter and pull each bulb coming from the truck, you can test each light socket in your taillights. If each light socket from your truck has power going to the light (12.0V or close on the meter) than the taillight is bad. If you have a power loss at the socket coming from the truck or no power when there is supposed to be power at that socket, than it could be a fuse or bad socket. Replacing the fuse and socket aren't to bad. If you have a fuse checker, you can use that to check the top of each fuse. If not, you can pull the fuses related to the taillights and look at them to make sure they aren't corroded or broken. If they are broken inside the fuse, then you most likely wouldn't have any action occurring at the light since the signal is disrupted. But if it's corroded when you pull it, wonky stuff can happen where it works sometimes but not all the time, in which case I'd replace that fuse as well.

My left running light and left license plate light aren’t on but the brakes work and it’s not an issue with the bulbs

If they are LED lights, it’s probably the actual light that’s bad. They will start to do weird stuff. The license plate light, I would swap out the unit on that side, not just a bulb, and see if that does the trick. I have LED license plate lights and I have had to switch both sides out within two years. The aftermarket license plate lights don’t last, but they do look good and give more light.

could be a power draw issue. Do you have resistors on the LED lights or did you do the LED swap from the GM interior lighting control module? If they are new lights, I doubt there is an issue but could be, can't rule that out. But if they only go out when the headlights go on, seems like they aren't getting power. If that's the case, I would turn on the headlights, and get your multi-meter out an check your rear light wires to see if they all get power 12V. If not, then the issue is from there. If all the wires are getting power to the light, then the issue is probably the light itself. If you get a resistor for the power wire to the light and it doesn't solve the issue, then I'd assume the light is being faulty.

My blinkers/brake lights arnt workin in the rear. New LED bulbs and the recent bulbs worked before the LEDS. I only get running lights with the LEDS. I have an LED blinker relay and LEDS for all the blinkers. 97 Yukon, idk if you could point me in a direction

If you are just running LED bulbs, then I'd try and get new bulbs or if you have some incandescent stock bulbs, put them in. If the LED rear light, is the entire light and housing, then it could be that it's faulty. If the stock bulbs work then you know that its the LED Light. Also you can get a LED lighting control module from GM at any autozone. It will replace your current module and located under the dash by the pedals. That should help, and it will also eliminate the need for any relays for future LED mods.

@@CoffmanHouse I put the old bulbs back in and they worked fine. I also did buy the LED compatible flasher for the blinkers so I wouldn’t have to run resistors

@@hypernexoius3000 I'm thinking if the old bulbs went in and it worked fine, then it's really just that LED. You have good power to the lights. There isn't an issue there. There is some issue with the driver in those LED's. My issue, was that I think a little condensation got onto my drivers somehow in my LED's and it caused them to do some pretty crazy stuff. Once I found that I had good power to my lights and tested with my multi-meter, I determined that the LED itself was my issue. Once I figured that out, I went to stock bulbs, but kept my LED reverse light bulbs since they are brighter and just went with stock smoked housings to not have to go through this issue again. Let me know how it turns out. Wish I could be there to help you tinker around. I love this stuff and once you figure it out, it's cathartic and glorious.

I got the same taillights but my side marker lights don’t fix in the plug what I do ?
@CoffmanHouse
@CoffmanHouse 11 ай бұрын
OK, so if those side lights don't work. You're going to want to make sure that the lights are getting power by putting your multi-meter into it like I did and then make sure that light is engaged. You should get a signal on that multi-meter of about 12V. If you are getting no signal to it, then the plug might be bad. You can try to clean it and see if you can get good contacts then, but if it's still not working, you'll have to buy a new plug. Then all you'd have to do is cut the old plug out, and splice in the new plug. Before you splice in the new plug, test the wires to make sure they are getting signal before splicing in the new plug. If you have power going to the plug, but the plug is faulty, you just gotta switch out that plug. If you met fit* instead of fix then I'm not to sure without having it in front of me.

You need resistors, it’s not that there faulty I’ve had 3 pair of them n they all do the same, I have led halos in the front so it’s drawing to much and it’s tripping the back lighting out. Put resistors on the front headlights & back

If you switch out the GM lighting control module for the LED lighting control module, then it will solve lots of LED issues and hyper flash without the need for resistors. This issue was with the actual LED lights 100%, I run LEDS everywhere else for all the lights including the interior lights and haven't had an issue. When condensation gets on these driver boards, they will fail the LED.
