Pure gold. Kilborn didn’t have the longevity on ESPN but was IMHO the most talented anchor ever. Legend.

I only recall Killborn from The Daily Show and Late Late Show but he was from my area somewhere in Kansas City. Lisa Kerney also from the KC area and she was at ESPN 2012 to 2018. And Jonathan Coachman is from Kansas and once worked in Kansas City as well as in Wichita and in other markets in the midwest before going to WWE. He did ESPN roughly from 2011 to 2017.

Kilby was an all-time great, but stop trying to make the Kansas/ESPN connection happen. It's not going to happen!

Lot of people forget that the Mississippi State team that made their Final Four run- most of that team had already made the Sweet 16 a year earlier.
@tumbleweedconnection7906
@tumbleweedconnection7906 3 жыл бұрын
Yep. And both UMass and Kentucky made the elite 8 in 95 so of the final 4 teams in 96..2 made the elite 8 the year before and 1 made the sweet 16. The other, Syracuse should've knocked off defending champ Arkansas in 95 tourney but Lawrence Moten pulled a Chris Webber and called a timeout with his team out of timeouts.. leading to a technical foul and Arkansas win

People forget the Dailey Show with Jon Stewart was originally the Dailey Show with Craig Kilborn !He was to conservative for them and they went 180○ the opposite way !
@cityhawk
@cityhawk 2 жыл бұрын
Well, Craig was developing a bad reputation of talking behind the guests’s backs. It wasn’t his so-called “conservatism” that torpedoed Craig’s career, it was the fact that he was developing a terrible reputation. Peter Lassally (the former executive producer of the Late Late Show) couldn’t stand Kilborn. He felt that he wasn’t working hard enough at the craft and was too narcissistic for the role. Kind of the same criticisms Chevy Chase got with his show. Even though Craig can be funny at times, he was a terrible interviewer, got lazy at times, and couldn’t ad-lib to save his life. The qualities Kilborn didn’t have, Jon Stewart and Craig Ferguson had them in plenty. When both of your successors are more remembered and beloved than you, that’s never a good sign. Kilborn hasn’t been missed to be honest with you.
@Vic-Vega

@@cityhawk Did you just say Kilborn "couldn't ad-lib to save his life?" Like, THE Craig Kilborn...who ad-libbed on overnight Sportscenters for years? And really, dude, Craig Ferguson??? No one will ever remember that buffoon, please get real. 😅😂🤣
@Nhamp2000
@Nhamp2000 Жыл бұрын
@@Vic-Vega There's a difference between ad-libbing at the water cooler and cutting your teeth as a stand-up. Bad ad-lib on ESPN? The director talks to you. In front of a live audience? You get booed off stage.
@Nhamp2000
@Nhamp2000 Жыл бұрын
@@cityhawk Not to mention that he thought TDS was a stepping stone to a network late night hosting gig, which was the holy grail at that time. CBS basically forced Tom Snyder out the door to get Kilborn because he was so "hip". Jon Stewart changed television and Kilborn faded as a footnotes and you're right, he wasn't missed.
