think i remember this night. it was during the high school play. i was an usher for it, it was allowed for people that didnt want to see the play, could come into the cafeteria and watch the MU game on tv.

Yes, that was a huge coaching move on K's part but also remember Duke's defense gathering itself after the early Marquette barrage! Except for a few threes down the stretch when Marquette was trying to rally our team D shut down their perimeter game! That allowed us to remain close which was crucial after halftime when Grant Hill took over! I vividly remember watching that game from our fraternity apt complex at Western Carolina University! I was 22 at the time

My dad has always told me stories about this game, basically the great start Marquette got off to, and now I get to see it.

Omg yes it was! He posterized McIlvaine! And McIlvaine just went down! Grant's athleticism was off the charts whether with or without the basketball! I still remember exactly where I was when he rammed the rack! It was the game changing moment! To me it ranks with his Kansas dunk in '91 and the near repeat of that in '92 against Ga Tech

That intentional foul at the end of the game was a joke. Did Coach K's brother make that call?

Duke fan. Agree terrible call even taking into account that back then more intentional fouls were called in that situation. Even without it I like our chances up 5 with a 73% shooter going to the line with under a minute left.
