If only Kentucky could play with this level of defensive intensity nowadays…

Kentucky's first 3 games in the tournament that year were as blistering hot as any team starting out a tournament.

Kentucky was blistering hot from outside and Wake Forest looked flustered. Travis Ford and Jamal Mashburn were hitting everything from 3 point range, including the kitchen sink. Amazing performance from Kentucky.

One of the truly great teams. I know they lost to Michigan in the final four in ot but still....this squad was straight up killing teams all year. Many times up around 100 pts scored. They beat Tennessee earlier that year by like 65 points I think. Unreal.

I remember watching this. It was a late evening game. Sad. I watched Rodney Rogers every Saturday on Raycom. I never thought they would get ran over like this.

Marc Blucas checked in and I'm like "where do I know that guy from?" He was in a bunch of stuff like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Summer Catch, etc.

Both ford and Padgett should have had an opportunity in the nba ..

Padgett spent 8 seasons in the NBA, he was a first round pick in 1999 by the Utah Jazz

Ford was only 5,10. He had 10 on ball i.q. My favorite Ford play, was completely picking Hurley pocket. I watched Ford in high school, I never thought he was good enough for Kentucky. I was wrong. I felt like he was roger Hardin brother, they both could pass, Hardin way underrated on passing.

Damn did Wake Forest really want to play in this game I mean can we get some type of effort on defense

Jamell Shaw Kentucky was just that good in the tournament that year..until they got to the Final Four when Michigan slowed the tempo down most of the game.

@@sickofguysnamedtodd2293 they did.., and Dale Brown gets hurt early in the game, and was out, and Mashburn fouled out, which was the biggest, and played O.T. without the 2 starters, their best defender, and a Sr, and their all around star, in the Jr., Mashburn.. Would been interesting to see what happened if Mash played O.T. Even Mich, couldn't slow him down. He had 17, 1st half pts!! Was a crazy fun team to watch! If they had a true threat down low, would been something.

@@clipsrus606 Yup - Gimel Martinez ended up having to guard Chris Webber in the overtime period. Bless his heart but that was just not going to work.
