You are my savior! I’ve been scratching my head for the better part of the year. I installed LED bulbs in February but I didn’t install the resistor for them. Not knowing this would be an issue, my cruise control stopped working. I didn’t put the two and two together. Instead I went down the entire checklist replacing parts. Then I came across your video and then it hit me. It was the LED brake bulbs. I just switched back to the regular bulbs and low and behold, the cruise control start working again. SMH 🤦🏻‍♂️

HAD A 2004 SURBURBAN CRUISE PROBLEM, AFTER TESTING EVERYTHING, FOUND THIS WAS THE PROBLEM , BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO WAS ABLE TO PUT THIS JOB BEHIND ME... CUSTOMERS VEH. HAD SEPERATE BRAKE LAMP BULBS FROM TURN. CUSTOMER HAD RESISTORS ON TURN SIG. BULBS.

Bless the interwebs!!! Placed LEDs yesterday and no cruise this AM.. watched this and swapped back in a standard bulb on the right brake light. Solved.. will install the resistor later. Thanks for sharing this!!

Thanks you soo much for this video, My cruise control didn’t work at night or when the head lights come on. I added these tail lights about 3 years ago, and couldn’t figure out why. Yesterday I put a resistor on the passenger side brake light wires and boom it started back working !!!!!!!! Thanks

Hi, I would like to thank you for your KZbin videos. I have been trying to get my cruise control to work for months. I am a car guy and know quite a bit about them, but I would never have thought LED lights would have caused such an issue with our cruise control. I will definitely subscribe to your channel. I’m almost certain that this actually happens with all early gm trucks . I just upgraded my taillights on my 2000 Silverado and same thing .

Lol thanks for the video I just recently realized I was getting zero reaction not even a on light in the instrument cluster that my cruise was on. And I did put some sweet led tail lights on my 05 gmc sierra so I think there's a good chance that's what the prob is 👍

I've got an 02 suburban and I put LED bulbs in place of the old incandescent ones, just swapped it back and I'll see if that fixes the cruise control not having any signs of life. I had another weird gremlin that popped up with the 3rd brake light staying at about 10% brightness all the time when the parking/headlights were on with the LED bulbs, but that was solved by switching back.

Did you solve the issue? I have a 03 chevy tahoe and i installed led tailights but funny thing they camed wired with resistors and yet my cruise control does not work. Not sure if im supposed to add another resistor to The wire pointed out in the video

@@g.e.587 you shouldn't have to. I added one on drivers rear brake and another to the interior map lights for a dimming issue. All is well. I have read that it depends on the ohms of the resistor.

Sir my son put his led lights in about 3-4 months but the cruise control still worked. Then the other day I was riding up the interstate and the cruise just stopped working? I’m wondering if this could be my problem? Did your cruise control instantly go out or did it go out like mine? Also my son’s truck is a 2002 Chevy S10? Thanks.

ok I got gmc Sierra 2005 . bought my led taillights that looks like came with resistors. funny thing I noticed. cruise control is working, but whenever I start using flashers. cruise control is off..and need to restart a car. My quastion is. do I need to put extra resistor or maybe higher resistor..to solve this? anyone know? I mean it's not really bothering me..but it seems like it overloading whenever I use flashers with all lights on..

Everything works on mine but the brake light and all I did weas change the turn signal relay to led relay. And my cruise works too.. why no brake light? Works fine with the original halogens

What was the Resistance of the Resistor? I have a 03 Avalanche with the same taillights but mine aren't crome. Also I have the Z71.

Quick question, were your led lights causing your signals to hyper flash before you installed the resister? And how about afterwards do they still hyper flash or do they flash normal?

They might. If you're using the original flasher assembly you may well get the hyperflash because the voltages associated with LEDs are so low. You can get an upgraded (digital) flasher relay on eBay or Amazon or elsewhere that handles LEDs. Alternative would be to install inline resistors on the 4 turn signal circuits. Inline resistors are cheaper than a new flasher relay unit, but more labor required.

@@aleeking1 cuz I have resistors for my rear LED tail lights, but I guess cuz I have LED bulbs in front they still hyper flash which I’m still cool with the hyper flash 👍🏽

2005 Tahoe z71, put LEDs tail lights in. Cruise won’t work. So put that resistor in and it should work again?

Certainly a possibility. While i don't have a trailer brake rigged on mine, if your trailer controller is looking for an electronic braking signal it may not be getting it b/c of the issue described in the video.

@@suelo_abuelo8066 unfortunately no, you'll need the digital flasher for the hyperflash (or inline resistors on all 4 flashing lights), and a resistor on the right brake light for the cruise. I wouldn't have designed the system this way, but we don't get a vote. Good luck!

Should be the same fix guys. In line resistor (wired in parallel as opposed to in series) on the right brake light should fix.

I put the resistor on my right tail light and now mine works I have been having problems at night but it would work during the day time as long as the headlights were off and I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado

Good stuff man good stuff. Recently my cruise control stopped working and I was questioning like what the fuck? Now another question I have for you do your panels on your Avalanche's bed leak because mine do and I'm trying to figure out if we have to order some or is there some way I can just replace them with better ones

Mine have leaked on occasion, usually a good cleaning of all the seals and some armor-all fixes the problem on my end. Would be hard to find new ones I imagine ax the Avalanche is no longer in production.
