Our van stalled on the road, I went through same thing, fuses, computer codes, no start. Switch fuses. Now, I need check fuel, makes it DARN difficult being deaf can’t hear fuel pump working. Gonna try feeling the pump while my wife turn key on. Go from there, last resort take throttle body out and clean it. Like you did. Thanks for sharing!! Hope get mine going!!!

I have an 05 Grand Caravan 3.3L and it runs, but does hesitate when accelerating, and would die when idling. I had tried cleaning the throttle body and mine was very dirty too. It only helped marginally. It still had the issues. Mine is also throwing a P0016 error code which is the Crankshaft and Camshaft position sensors are not registering together. I did buy both sensors and am going to install them to see if that fixes the issue. Incidentally, when I pulled my throttle body apart, I used some motor oil on the 2 gaskets and gave the inside housing the air unit fit into a light coating of oil, and it slid together very easily. It's not a difficult repair, but it does also require removing 2 electrical connectors and an air hose from the components on the throttle body to remove it. One connector I had to leave in place until I had unbolted the throttle body before I could access it to remove it. Reinstalling went very easy using oil on the parts. I even used a little oil on the bolts holding the throttle body in place. One thing I did learn in my years of working on vehicles is a tiny bit of lube/motor oil, helps reassembly go much easier, and the next time the component has to be removed, it shouldn't be seized up, thereby breaking something. The dipstick is right there and oil can be removed from it with every pull from the dipstick tube.

These cars had a problem with the engine fuel injection harness. The problem is that the wire insulation is deteriorating and the wires touch each other inside the harness. That large connector lower down behind the coil is where the problem is, it is not the wiring shown in this video. You must remove the harness cover (tape) to see the wires inside the harness. *Important* the harness will look fine if you just look at it YOU MUST remove the plastic or tape covering to see inside. These wires are located inside the harnesss on the engine side of that large connector. replacement harness is about 125 bucks from eBay and you must reroute the harness slightly to get it away from the exhaust crossover. This problem was hard as hell to find and I'm a Master ASE tech...

My harness melted wires together had to speaker them out and tape. Can still rough idle and acceleration. Now shows bad coil pack chasing misfire.

Hi Jason, On July 12, 2022 I came home and parked my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport in front of my apartment. The next day I went out to my van, started it up, put it in reverse, began backing up and the van stalled. I put it in Neutral, cranked it back up, put it in drive, the van stalled again after moving only about 4 feet. My van never gave me any warning that it was sick no warning at all. I called my dad and he came over to see if he could help me get my van going. These are all of the things that have been replaced since July 13, 2022…1st Replaced all spark plugs, and wires 2nd Check all Fuses they were good. 3rd Replaced Transmission because the vehicle diagnostics gave codes for transmission issues. The last thing I replaced was the ECM. None of this stuff has fixed the issue. My van will start and run as long as it remains in Park. As soon as it’s put in drive or reverse it’ll move around 4 feet and stall. I have a few questions… After changing the transmission and ECM do I need to do anything else to make these parts work on my vehicle? Do they have to be programmed for my van? What else could cause my van to act this way? Thank you

Did you take the throttle body out and check to see if its gunked up. May not be getting enough air to the engine. I always try to think in terms of fuel, air, and spark when diagnosing stalling.

For anyone else looking for answer, my van stalled out tonight. I wiggled wires just below throttle body and fired right up. Took 5 minutes of me trying other things before this. wiggled, tried to start, nothing, over to next wires, wiggled and nothing, then got to wires under throttle body just above alternator giant plug. .. wiggled gently, fired right up. side note, I have been feeling a slight roughness at idle in the week or so coming up to event. So fast far feels smooth. But only tomorrow's cold start will tell. usually only felt little rough at cold start. I'm thinking IAC SENSOR dirty as reason for slight rough idle. Enjoy. As always, cleaning throttle body is a good thing on high mile cars. We have 250k only 1 water pump and one battery few tires and heater/ac control issues. That's it! GREAT VANS

You want specific throttle body cleaner, brake cleaner can damage the sensors inside the throttle body.

if you take a spray bottle and mist the wires while its running it will tell you if the wires are jumping fire do this at night time

Clean the throttle body. A can of TB cleaner cost about 5 bucks. Loosen the screw clamp on the intake hose between the airbox and throttle body, unclip the air filter box clips and remove. Disconnect the sensor on the back of the TB and take apart I think it's like 3 bolts. Should take about 15 mins.

Same with most cars. Lack of maintenance on some of the most important items involving fuel delivery and fuel management. A good old'fashioned tune-up is needed with any car of that amount of mileage.

The 3.0 liter has the Throttle Position Sensor in that spot... it is a common problem.

mine has injector 2 staying open. had it replaced once but it did the same thing. took it to a electrical mechanic and said it had corrosion in the harness. it was fixed but a year later same code is on. he didn't replace the injector the second time but t went for a year without code but still felt a hesitation. I am wondering if i should replace the injector myself since the code comes on when it is cold during the winter most

First thing on any modern car is disconnect the battery for at least five minutes to ten minutes better and the computer resets. Always work on electrical with battery disconnected for safety and you so you don't short something out

Okay cool... so my van first stalled just after getting off the freeway... had to tow it home. let it sit for a couple of hours and it started right up - let run for 20 minutes and it died. I waited a week , and it started right up but died after about 10 minutes. Do you think it's the same problem? Intermittent fuel pump issue? Fuel filter? Thanks!

Hi Jason, had that problem, and before that the van had a sound like a meat grinder, I just did the last parte took the sensor apart and cleaned that complete, after that all sounds went off and worked perfect, a few times it stalled and went off but after some time working and hard accelerating it seems fine, so thanks for the guide, by the way the check engine is on now all the time any hint or how to reset? thanks for a good and clear guide

Fuel sending in tank needs replaced - then you get accurate reading. my 2002 did out of gas before light triggered.

fix for van is one bottle chevron techron fuel system cleaner and filter the cleaner will work 90% of the time with no filter it is the best all mechanics i know use it will clean that part from inside
