I applaud your helping beginner quilters. Sometimes getting stuck and no one to ask, can result in them quitting altogether. Sewing is so rewarding and takes your mind off the day to day problems. I have been teaching my granddaughter to quilt and showing her things I have learned through trial and error. I love this jelly roll buster pattern. A quick fast quilt, great for beginners. 👏

Now I know why I love you so much. I am en engineer that sews. I love your direct, clear videos. You put in so much time. Thank you so much. I'm likely very close to your age. It never occurred to me there was an App. Of course there is. This is what I do in my head every time I look at a quilt LOL. It is why engineers love quilts. Thank you for nudging this engineer along systematically on this journey. I appreciate you so much.

Brenda from Mount scrapmore shared this as a potato chip block, as they are all the same size. It makes a useful block to use up those strips and other scraps. Thank you for sharing your tutorial on how to make this. Appreciate all the blocks so far and looking forward to new ones.

I started making these last year as a potato chip block but I don't do the final round so the blocks end up 6" finished. It is a great block and you have done a great video on this cute project.

I have to say I’ve never purchased a jelly roll yet, I’ve purchased two layer cakes, lots of fat quarters and yardage is my main purchase. But all good I have plenty of cutoffs that I’ll be using. Thanks Carol, for sharing, right now I have some catching up to do. 👍❤️😊

I really haven't purchased many jelly rolls. Most of my "jelly rolls" are strips I've cut from fabric left over from other fabrics, especially the narrow WOF pieces. Thanks for watching.

Carol!! Have you been in my sewing room lately?! 😂😂 I was just going through my boxes last night thinking about a good “throw everything in but the kitchen sink “ type project. This is perfect!! And God Bless You for explaining the math going into figuring out these blocks. I left you playing when I went outside for a second, but when I came back you were explaining that. Was it an app? Thank you for inspiring me everyday to try and clean out these boxes! Happy quilting! 🧵

How do we end up with so many scraps!!?? They multiply overnight. The app is on my blog. Check it out here - quilt-notes.blogspot.com/p/quilt-calculators.html I will be releasing about 2 videos each week with more information about what you can do with them. Thanks for watching.

I'm really enjoying this series. As for the app I do the maths myself every time for my charity quilts which I aim to make 45" x 70" or thereabouts. Apps are new to me so that should be interesting. Accuquilt also helps. The aspect I struggle with despite my background is laying the pieces on the die so that I get accurate cuts. Some I gave cut wrong as they aren't as big as they should be. This aspect of using dies is always rushed on the Accuquilt die but essential for us beginners to learn to get good results. Any help would be appreciated.

I starch the heck out of the fabric before cutting it on the AccuQuilt. Sometimes when I get lazy and don't do it, it is always harder to piece them. I use liquid starch, Sta Flo, and dilute it about 50-50. Be sure to shake it each time. Hope this helps and thanks so much for watching.
