Depending on how new the engine is, you'll hear the tick less. It will always be there, normal operation. The camera is exuberating the tick from the engine bay, mine does that as well. If you hear it coming from the exhaust then you can start worrying. Should sound like a lope when idling. The noisiest engines are the 2 valve, the 4 valve is probably the quietest. Tighter cam tolerance, etc. Dreaded? No. Normal? Yes.

I replaced the stock struts with Rancho adjustable with a 3 inch lift built in. Still had to trim to get it to clear.

I have an 05 with a super 10 love the sounds....and I have the same ticking so I saw these other comments saying it's the cam phaser? DOES anyone else's make like a crunch sound when you let off the throttle? also it makes a tapping when light on throttle at low speeds anyone know what that is....hard to notice with the super 10 though

No crunch, but that tapping is there on my '05 FX4 w/128,000 miles. Check your oil level and condition. Sound is more prevalent when your oil is low or turned to sludge.

+JDmasrud 3 inch level and I still had to trim up front. The wheels have a -20 offset and stick out pretty far. tires are 305/55 20 (33x13x20) and wheels are 10 inches wide. Still rubs sometimes.

I am about to get the outlaw system with the scanvenger headers do i need to get a flowmaster catalytic converter as well? Ima disabled veteran and this is my first ever truck since medical clearance to drive

Not sure. This is a cat back system with the factory manifolds and converters.

I can't say that I'm really unhappy with it but I won't buy the first year production af anything ever again. 167k miles on it and still going ok. Trans is a little weak but I blame that on the burnouts
