Further it would be helpful if you were able to have your camera further away from the door so I could get a better idea of what you are actually doing.

lol i finaly got it open. was not all that easy. no thanks to this vid lol. mine is a 2009 sienna. all i did really was push real hard on the bak end. i would hear like a poping sound it would scare the shit out of me. see the bak part would kinda open but the front wer the handle is would not budge at all. all i did was keep pushing real hard on that bak end n it finaly opened. i was freakin out lol. so mine has nothing to do wit that mechanism mine was workin jus fine

I've seen a vid where a guy is able to pry open the small panel around the inside latch kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIK6d5SwgJp3ncU , then maybe you could get to the inside to open it, viz kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4KWooGnZ6mFrbc and not need the screwdriver?

Did you ever find out what the part number is? The link unfortunately doesn’t work

@@lalo1104 Not for the specific part. Toyota wants to only sell the large assembly... way too much money. I went to a junk yard to get the part instead. Luckily they had 4 Siennas from the same generation as mine (2008). Based on what I saw I would say the failure rate in this area is around 50%. I took every good mechanism there that day, 2 for each side so I would have a spare if another broke.
