I remain convinced that the #1 reason for gigantic wind turbines is that only large corporations can afford them. No homeowner is going to install one of those monsters, so they're a good way to keep wind power in the hands of existing utilities.

The observstion of tge addition of the owl wings combs weight difference & tape's weight +/- may be skewing the RPM ratting comparison to the other designs. BUT a very interesting result for all to tinker with equally weighted but 3 different blade props to compare and no more about. Thank You, Robert, for the wind at our backs push to our collective increased knowledge efforts benefit.

Pretty sure all three designs would be self-starting if you used the fan angle chosen for the third one...

On topic, I was recently told that golf balls have their little "holes" in order to improve their aerodynamic properties! 🤨 It was a race car tuner, who told me this, as they also incorporate this concept into the inner surfaces on engine air intakes in order to obtain faster airflow over the inner surfaces of the intake system. 🤯

Hey Rob, what about placing a hinge on the vanes, so that when they are closest to the fan, they will "feather"(turn toward the wind)? That would be a good experiment to see. Good job. Keep up the good work.

Hi Rob, please put the links to the drawings in Thingvyerse. I don’t see them in the description! Also- what about painting one side of the vanes black and the other white to take advantage of solar, too?

He's been on KZbin for a long time. I started watching him many years ago. He is a chemist, but you can see that he does other stuff, as well. Check out his older videos, and his conductive ink. It is VERY cool.

I want to see you put some of these principals you illustrate to use that is actually useful, like powering a machine shop.

Obviously I'd love to see the effect of more blades and I wonder what effect enclosing each side in a disc would have. If only I had a 3d printer :(

This pleases me too. I wonder can this technology benefit a gyroplane/autogryo rotor blade? How will I do this, I wonder?

Thanks! Wonder why nobody's trying it on aircraft yet. Recently noticed some videos mention links which aren't in the descriptions. This one is missing the thingiverse link, and 2182 Forever Batteries is missing links to the patents.

Incredible videos of wind turbine fails . Unless the blades and center point of the fan are not done with NASA precision they will all fail at a given speed. The notches on your design is awesome on the increase of performance. Thanks for the share. :O)

Creation shows Yahs handy work. Take a rainbow trout in a flowing stream; stationary (apart from the slight movement of its pectoral fins) and yet us launched upstream by the bending of the fish's body. Literally flying, without effort.

All good but storing energy is our biggest problem. Thanks for your great content 👍
@ua420
@ua420 Жыл бұрын
It was an issue in 2020 but not in 2024 or 2030. With EVs pushing Lithium batteries down you just can buy batteries at $100 per kWh now. And if you use refurbished batteries from teslas it goes well below $50 per kWh. There's no typical energy usage profile world-wide. But many households around the globe cover daily energy needs with just 1-5 kWh of energy.
@halloen33

@ua420 Well, if we take all the energy storage there is and it only lasts 1 hour. Problem and lithium and kobolt are not cheap enough. We do need rethinking energy.

Kinda makes me miss flying a kite. Some of the designs captured to much wind outweighed taking flight is (great fun) Your comparison of upright-blade values Consistency is a better-side of wildlife include the habitations best-known consideration has at its best name a value. Thanks for pointing that out extenuating approximation got it.

Numbers vary wildly from different studies, but in 2013 and 2014 estimates were anywhere from 140K to 679K per year, which is alot, until you look at studies showing that house cats kill anywhere between 988 Mil and 4 Billion per year. If you consider that amount of habitat that gets destroyed for fossil fuel projects, the number of birds killed is negligible. That doesn't even account for the impact of Climate Change which is much harder to calculate.
