OK, so the Mustang was an easy fix, It was a blocked solid pre filter in the water trap, and yes I could have done it myself, If I knew the gauze filter was in there..
Moving on. The first load of recycled type one has arrived and I'm itching to see how it goes down.

Hi Ian, If you want to make a really good job of checking the yard fall level, check the top rail of field fencing for level left to right. Place another set top end of the yard at the level you wont there. Make a timber T (Traveler) to the desired height of stone and then check the laid material in straight lines from the top fence to get your desired fall. OR grab Famous Dave and his laser thingy when he pops in for a pie break to help you check it. I think the later would be well worth a coffee. You could use the heaps of stuff to make bunds to direct water flows away from buildings and give you more room to park good gear. Yards looking good with just that one load, plus once gates are installed etc. will make the race easier to manage and no set up break down each test session. Take care.

Already looks amazingly better and will be a lot better to look at from the house that's for sure... It's better to suck the lemon now and get the 3rd load of rock so you can make lemonade later. If it's 2 plus a bit for the immediate need, that's fine. The remaining 3rd will save you when you need to gravel the edges of the pad and/or fill in whatever the perfectly level construction reveals is uneven of your slope. Just finished my building project, and I need another load of base gravel more, yet again!

I work for a aggregatee company, , A few years ago we where suppling a project for a anerobic digester and they started to use type 1 limstone for the silage clamps bases and then had asphalt laid on top, after a while they where told that the liuid from silage grass and maize could disolve the limestone in time, so they switched to crushed concrete,

Farmer p . re. your comments regarding drivers and their ability or lack of when it comes to reversing, whilst I don’t wholly disagree with you I’m sure will agree that tractors and farm machinery in general are now bigger than ever and are using the same lanes as did horses and carts, today I saw a j.d tractor with 5 steps to the cab , an intimidating sight on a narrow lane.

@@grahamburns3091 Economy of scale Graham, you want cheap food in the supermarket, supermarkets want it even cheaper. We could go back to smaller machinary, pay far higher wage and fuel bills because it takes twice or three times as long to do the same task if everyone is happy spending twice as much for breakfast dinner, lunch, and beer 🍺🙂

I wonder why the supermarkets are so anti farmer? I guess it comes down to scale and catering to customer needs ? I recently made a meal that needed a small side dish of vegetables i picked ( small broccoli, monge - tout and peas ) it saved buying each vegetable separate and come in a microwave plastic pack and was reasonably priced. On looking at the packet it came from Sauth Africa 😨 why o why the supermarkets dont invest and back British farming more astonishes me. Why cant this be sourced from British farmers? I do like watching you and other hard working reputable farmers who who commit to bring a product ( meat or grains ) to market by doing it the correct way, even with the burden of goverment and supermarket bureaucracy. Feather in your cap Ian your one of the good guys 👍
@FarmerP
@FarmerP 25 күн бұрын
@@stevewilson6390 It’s all driven by profit Steve, food produced by cheap South African labour offers a bigger margin for the shareholders. If British farmers offered to work for free we would still be dearer because of the high standards we maintain in welfare, husbandry and inputs.

Too late now but id have put a A frame 25' wide full length on the lower side. With the 5' overhang you could either have barriers all the way along or split in half and a couple feeders each side as now but under cover. If you wanted you could use the small square barm a s a undercover muck store as the feed area being covered should mean muck not slurry. The room created would allow the straw to be in the top section and younger cattle in the middle. Plenty of room for calving pens down bottom too. Your money your choice but i honestly think you missed an opportunity here Ian
