This is very true. If you are in a band, you run into these cushioned, heavily suburbanized people like this. You tell them all day, "There is no money in it, but if you are passionate about music it is a great time". It never sinks in. It is a HUGE sacrifice, a MASSIVE money sink and a fucking time vampire Right attitude: "I take great pride in being appreciated for my music, that is reward enough" Bad Attitude: "We should be rockstars by now. It is everyone else's fault but ours".

I have to say I'm impressed with how candid she is. She sounds like an honest, intelligent person that is a bit disillusioned with the industry, and disappointed at how difficult it is to receive royalties in an age where everything can be downloaded from the internet. I am going to buy at least one of her CD's, in addition to purchasing a physical copy of the latest Kamelot CD on which she appears as a guest vocalist. I'm not a fan of screaming, but her singing is fantastic. Great voice too.

The Agonist is the best metal band oh and she's right about illegal downloading because she said in another interview that the reason why now a days bands take forever to make albums is because of illegal downloading

"..haven't blamed anyone.." You didn't catch how she managed to cram a number of crass (some would say offensive) generalizations about their audiences in one interview? Considering how popular they became so quickly, this rant demonstrates she had some pretty unrealistic expectations going into it. There are more influential bands that have been doing it longer that get half the recognition. Shit, making rent on time is a holiday for most bands. What planet does she live on?

No, everything she expressed was "subjective" not "valid". I mean, seriously, cry me a river fanboy. The musical climate "did not change" after they started the band. It was just as bad when they did their first show as it is now. And lastly, they signed the goddamn contract that explicitly states in many key areas that it will fuck your band over. Illegal downloads hurt bands.. like Lacuna Coil and Testament.. illegal downloads are just a scapegoat in "this" scenario.
