I like his husky voice but miss his powerful young voice feel so lucky to see videos like this.

Well said. Some of the songs translate better with his older more soulful voice, while some just don’t work as well. That aside, I think he’s become a better pianist and performer over time.

I grew up listening to these early Elton John albums (and I owned most of them). It's true that, for some reason, this song never climbed the charts like so many of his other songs did. It has a great funk sound, and he's performing with what I always think of as his classic studio-album rock-band. This is a beautiful song that was made even better when it was performed live.

i’ve listened to elton john my whole life (being a product of 70s parents). never really heard this song much, just heard it this past week, now it’s on repeat.

always my fav on that album, though Funeral for a Friend always hauntingly came close. Grey seal is species-specific transformative lyrical drama. Thank you, Elton and Bernie, from the depths of my childhood soul struggling to survive and finding solace in music like you...like yours

Underrated, best song of Yellow Brick Road, listened and sang to this one loudly in my youth, on LP's!!! Best, next to the actual Goodbye Yellow Brick Road song.

This is one of my favourite EJ songs. Now there are some things I personally would change. First i would slow it down. But the ending is great so you could break into a fast part somewhere along near the end. It's a great song. Hey who am i to tell EJ how to play his own song. I would just play it different and I think it would sound better but love it anyway it 's done. EJ if you want to tell me to F off i understand.

I guess hes refering to an eldery man. Grey refering to his hair and seal refering to a nickname. And he's talking about him being wise like the older generation

@@alexnajera3483 Bullshit. You just pulled that out of Uranus. It's weird how people need to know exactly who something is. What if it's looking at an actual seal and seeing the authenticity of an animal being here now and not having a facade? It could be something as mundane yet philosophical as that.
@alexnajera34832 жыл бұрын
@@lemurianchick well Bernie himself said there was no real meaning. To anyone it can mean anything in that case. Music can be perceived as any meaning. A song about a river can be about nature to one person, or an analogy about how life keeps on going for another. It’s all about how you put your mind to the lyrics. Music has no one true meaning
