these comments make me laugh. Who goes out and buys a new truck to crash it into a big rig to kill themself ? The truck frame never made contact with the big rig, it went under the big rig. Only the body of the Toyota made impact with the frame of the big rig trailer. Doesn't take a lot of speed to do that much damage when the truck frame misses the contact. Truck cabs are not as strong as a unibody car cockpit because the truck cab is on a frame and the unibody car cockpit is the frame of the car. I don't think the Toyota was speeding to do this much damage. The big rig pulled out in front of him. The law reads that the Toyota had the right of way, no matter what the big rig driver says. The Toyota driver isn't here to tell his side of the story. There is always two sides to every story.

To get the pickup far enough under the trailer for the load body to crush the passenger compartment like that the driver of the pickup must have been doing a lot more than the speed limit. The fact that the driver of the pickup didn't react even when the truck driver sounded his air horn makes me wonder if it was a case of suicide by truck...
@flashy51508 жыл бұрын
+gosportjamie Looks like it to me. Or maybe the brakes failed or the accelerator stuck and the truck just kept getting faster. I know this happened in a parking lot a little while ago near me. The older person lived but took out two trees and 2 parked cars before it came to rest. It could also be someone that was drunk and passed out with their foot on the gas. I'm not going to pass judgement right now, because we don't know the real truth. As someone said, there's many variables that could be the route cause.

With no lights on the side of the trailer and at night on an unlit dark road way they say my friend must of seen the trucks headlights on the correct side of the road and presumed the whole truck was on the correct side. That's only 35 to 40 MPH of damage to the pick up truck. Without the front bumper and lower impact structure damaged all the impact just sheered the top of the motor and hood only leaving the windshield pillars for protection. The driver of the semi pulled out in front of that person costing a life.

Surely at that time in the morning the truck driver should have moved forward out of the road. One cannot judge oncoming traffic speed. What was the urgency to get out onto the road at that early time?

I can see this scenario in my mind. I've been in the same situation several thousand times in real life. It's dark. No traffic, except that one set of headlights coming my way. I mean NOBODY else around. What the hell - at 30mph it'll take him/her forever to get here and I'm in a hurry. I'm going for it. See what I mean? At that time of night, with no other traffic, it simply wasn't worth the risk. How many seconds would the truck driver have lost by waiting for that one car to get on by?
@amx10478 жыл бұрын
Maybe I just think a little further ahead than most drivers. Or maybe I'm overcautious. Whatever. I'm not on the road now, and hopefully I'll never have to get back in a big truck. It's just too scary out there nowa'days. Too much responsibility and too much to lose.

That'll buff right out , I'm talking about the semi trailer , it literally has a smudge on the paint ! Toyota is wasted , apparently so is the guy driving it , sad , but it could have been avoided so easily by just slowing down . I suppose technically it's the semi drivers fault for pulling out in front of the Toyota , however if the computer in the Toyota shows the vehicle was speeding excessively then it's the Toyota drivers fault , and yes they can determine the speed at impact by looking at the recorded data in the computer , that feature is built in to all newer cars computer systems .

That Tundra had to of been going 60+ mph in this 30 mph zone... Yes the semi-tractor did pull out in front of the Toyota, but I'm betting the road was clear when he started to pull out and the Toyota came up around the corner going 2x to 3x the speed limit and that's likely what happened. I've seen crashes like this in the past. 100% Toyota's fault.

35 MPH zone, the Toyota hits the truck and it does that kind of damage, that shows just shows how badly Toyotas are built, or wait, I would put my money on the Toyota driver was speeding and not the fault of the 18 wheeler driver.
@pjoka26446 жыл бұрын
When the semi pulled out, it was his trailer that was across the road. The driver of the pickup truck could see headlights in the other lane and they most likely blinded him enough he couldn't see the trailer blocking his lane of road. No matter what, the truck driver should not have pulled out if he saw the pickup truck coming. He killed that man because he did not want to wait another few seconds for the pickup to pass. There have been a lot of accidents due to the semi trailers being across lanes of traffic. If you think about it, you see the headlights of the truck in the opposite lane, who would think his trailer was across your lane of traffic?
