Only blows out defrost vents, will not switch to dash vents

Please rename it to E350 for other searchers because i was so excited to find one person who used the original path for the main vacuum. I would suggest getting about 6 feet of tubing and push in from the hole in the cab behind the glove box. Eventually it was able to be seen above the blower housing and easily routed from there. NO DRILLING and i am thrilled with the results!

Mine is doing the oppositive, stuck in vents only but Not defrost. But this may solve my problem, i know is something with vacuum & actuator . Thank you sir!

Hi Craig. I have a 2015 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome (F53) and my problem is losing dash air to defrost at 50-55 mph. I removed my 2 original vacuum cannisters and did exactly as you did with the very same Ford 3 way valve and Ford cannister that you purchased. I probably watched 5 videos for Ford Econolines with the same problem. Their problem was successfully eliminated. My end result, good dash A/C until 50-55 mph, then my air switches to defrost again. I do not feel that my V-10 is at loss for vacuum at high speed because I still maintain good Cruise Control at 65-70 mph. I would like to inspect my solenoid valve in my "air box" (or plentum) but I cannot figure out how to open it or remove it to access the solenoid valve. If anyone reads this and has had experience with my situation, would you give me some help. Thanks. John

I think the door or the linkage to the vent is broke. The door inside seems to move independent of the linkage. Depending on how pitched the van is I can have air through the vent or not. So park with the front up and flip the switch and WALA vent cooling. not sure if there is a fix short of removing the dash. Any smart ideas out there?

Is vacuum canister needed since it didn’t originally have one looks like? Can you just run new line for vacuum since it seems the actual problem was in the line (.blocked or cracked) ?

It has one . They tuck it into the inner fenderwell. You pretty much have to remove the fender to get to it.

What if you have the opposite problem? When the selector is set to defrost nothing comes out, if you manually press the actuator lever in the center dash it will change. Could that still be a vacuum issue?

If your line is bad you can feed it down from the panel on top of the dash, may need a second pair of hands.

Hey Nice post.I was wondering if you could TELL ME WHATS WRONG WITH MY AC .i HAVE A 2011 E450 V 10. It seems the air is blowing out real slow and It will not change speed or from vent to defrost.I changed the blower motor and resister already.Any clue whats causeing the problem.

You need a new resistor. Assuming you van is similar to mine? You'll find it directly behind the battery plugged into the blower motor. It's a relatively easy fix with several tutorials available online. If the wiring pigtail that plugs into the resistor is melted or decayed in any way, replace that too. They sell both the resistor and the resistor pigtail at your local auto parts store.

What you did not show was how to run that new hose from the engine bay to under the passenger under dash. I have the same problem and could not find a way.

year late but no, that's more likely melted plastic in the plug. If this were your issue? You'd not have air coming out of the dashboard vents, it would come out of the floorboards/defrost vents instead. Replace the knob with the fan speeds or take it off and clean off the melted plastic.

I believe you still have a vacuum issue, but where I'm not sure. Does it do it when you give or release the throttle or just completely random?

Oh itj's a diesel. The gas version does not have the electric vacuum pump. But the theory is probably the same.
