06 Elemental Sense from 100 Days by James Navé: Published by 3: A Taos Press

Spring invites purpose. What appears today will not appear tomorrow-elemental sense of order: fog, sleet, rain, wind, freeze, thaw, gain, loss, life, death, night, day-elemental sense of disorder: Big game hunters stalk the tiger, raise their rifles, fire, miss, aim, fire again. The tiger vanishes into the undergrowth. The hunters lower their long barrels. I am a part of the ooze humanity makes. I walked more today than yesterday. A heavy frost will fall after midnight.

BACKGROUND NOTES ON 100 DAYS: Poems After Cancer
Twelve years ago, celebrating Poetry Month beginning April 1, I wrote 100 poems in the 100 days following my surgery on March 30.
