In WW2 the US tested a troop deployment system consisting of towed metal lightly armored troughs. Each on holding one soldier. The idea was shelved before it was used. Apparently the Russians have dusted off this half baked idea.

Compared to the US military, the Russian army is severely lacking in military trucks. Exacerbating the shortage, Russia has lost almost all their military trucks in the region, especially since they are unarmored. That is why they have been using civilian vehicles, especially delivery vans. It seems they are now running short of those. They have also used armored vehicles, but even the vaulted Russian stoeage depots are running dry.

Good point. I read an analysis where Russia had 4 thousand trucks. They pulled more out of storage, but most recent losses appear to be the bread vans and civilian vehicles Logistics is a weakness that has been constantly targeted.
