The knots used are certainly workable but the weakest link is the D:d ratio off the thinner ring to the fabric. In pull testing it will always fail where the first wrap touches the termination device. For rehearsals or training the knots don’t matter too much but for theatrical use, the larger knots are a little bulky for me as I prefer a sleeker look on stage. For shows, I usually use a minimum 1/2” pear ring with the fabric cloved to the ring, with the tail lashed to the live side with colored electrical tape (to match the fabric) down about 15cm, then I leave a small loop of fabric sticking out then tape it back up to the knot and cut off the excess. The exposed loop is used as a visual indicator to make sure the clove hasn’t slipped. Thanks again!!

Thank you for this! Very well demonstrated! If I may ask: - How much fabric to factor in for the figure 8 knot on the rescue 8 ring approx? - And for the prussik loop technique - what loop length/diametre approx. would be fitting for the thick fabric?

This is the first time i have seen a method similar to what i do: i use a 17yd silk looped in a spiral to make a hybrid scarf and hammock set up in my 14’ space. So many possibilities open up - can use either scarves or hammock, or combine them or knot the scarves for a double hammock set up. I exclude the ones i dont want to use at any given time by tying them up at the top with a quick release ‘flower’, and can use an extra tail as a ‘hand rail’ to slowly ‘walk’ myself down new drops or through positions.

Thanks for your clear explanation. If I wanted to use this at home, what size of space would I need? also considering the height from the ceiling to the floor, I am 1.55 tall. thank you for your time
