06 | Vellum Nodes | Grains

Vellum Grains are basically points that you can simulate in many different ways. Start with a basic setup then learn how to get control over the simulation. In many cases, a Vellum Glue node will be used together with grains to get control over the clustering of the points.

2:18 "You can also point deform your original mesh to your points" could you explain how to do this please?

You should be able to just wire the original mesh into the "Mesh to Deform" input of the Point Deform node, the pre-simulated points from your Vellum Configure Grains into the "Rest Point Lattice" input, and the simulated grains into the "Deformed Point Lattice" input.

@@polkablues how do we get to know that we have to connect these nodes to these inputs I'm a beginner in Houdini but if you can tell me any tips for working on some ways to be efficient in Houdini thank you so much btw:)

@@arjunladdhad8792 The best way to learn is doing lots of tutorials like this one, then taking the knowledge you get from those and doing your own experimentation (like setting a goal for a certain effect you'd like to make and then trying out different methods to achieve it). As far as understanding the node inputs themselves, you can hover the mouse over the input to show what the input is for, and the online help documentation can provide you more details for each node and what specific inputs it requires to work. Just be prepared, as a beginner, to spend a lot of time looking up explanations for nodes until you're experienced enough with them to know how they function.
