I love the way these mallet smashes turn the colours to pastels and some areas are contrasted with the neat colours, such a lovely mix. I tried one yesterday but I think my white paint was too thick because it didn't end up very pastely....is that even a proper word!!! Loving your mallet work Ann thanks for sharing with us.

Oh, this is so cool -- what a wonderful process to get kids involved in art -- shoot, a wonderful way for me to get more involved in art. I've been doing a lot of slide and pour art on albums I buy for two bucks at the thrift store lately -- you can purchase those rubber mallets at the dollar tree -- I had one, lost it when I moved, bought another one, found the lost one, so I have 2 -- I might have to do this tonight -- thanks so very much for sharing -- I think it came out lovely.

If you used silicone on the painting that you had problems with it may have been caused by the silicone. Best to clean your painting before using a resin or clear coat. Look up what will remove silicone on the painting before using a clear coat.

Only use a small amount of silicone. Have you tried different methods like flip and drag, mallet, dirty pour? It takes many, many, many pours to get it right. If you are new to this keep trying. Also, you don't need cells at all! You can have beautiful paintings without a single cell. Hang in there.

I have a deep just regular old box I got from Wal-Mart when they were stocking the shelves after midnight -- our WMs stay open 24 hours, and sometimes it's faster just to go late -- I did use hot glue and glued heavy plastic that came on a carpet I ordered online to the exterior bottom of the box, and also I hot glued the bottom pieces together and used more of that plastic and glued it to the interior bottom and about 6 inches up the sides, as well -- so far no leaks -- and if I have to, I can close the top for overnight drying. I initially got it to do resin glazing in an effort to keep the cat hair out, to be honest, but then started using it to dry poured pieces. I can't wait to start this. Since it's October, I feel I should listen to smashing pumpkins when I try it -- ha.
