Great video 👍 there is a quick release found it while cutting mechanism open. While still attached to boot there is a little hole on the right hand side where if you pop a small screwdriver in it will release 👍

The fuse wasn't the issue in this case but sometimes it can be. Maybe next time, show where the fuses are.

Had the same problem. First thing to try is to make sure that the tailgate is fully locked by pushing firmly down on it. If the tailgate has not slammed shut at any time i.e. gently lowered, it will only have half latched and will not open from the half latched position.

Hey, if you aren't getting any sort of sounds or operation of any kind from the lock, after getting the trunk open I would first check the multiplug. You want to check you're getting correct voltage readings easy way to do this is plug in your multimeter and with the lock latched. Try locking and unlocking with the key fob to see if you're getting any readings. If you're getting good voltage and it's still not working, it's an indication the lock itself may be defective. Always worth ruling out bad wiring before replacing a part. Hope this helps.

Hi.... My central locking system. Work however I am not haring the actuator activating. I am getting 12v on the first pin. And all the other pins are reading as a ground. Any ideas? Also, how were you able to seperate the actuator for the strike?

I recently had my tailgate lock on me in my Ford Focus 2007 when i closed the tailgate lightly so it would stay open, i came back to it and the tailgate wouldn't open and the catch didn't seem to fully unlock, i could hear the locking mechanism ok so luckilly after checking another door to see if the car was actually fob locked i pushed down on the tailgate to check if it had fully engaged the lock and it fully locked into place then i was able to use the catch once again to open the tailgate.

If you're able to get the boot open, at least you know the lock \ latch is working. Once you take off the interior panel you should be able to see if there's any fixings that need to be undone to release the switch.

I had to change the lock in my cmax from 2008 and saw your video how to do it. The lock has now been changed and works fine and it also closes fine. But in the display it says that the trunk is open and I can't figure out why it says that since it closes fine. Anyone have an idea what it could be?

The new lock should have an electrical connector on it. There is a sensor internal to the lock which should register closed or open. If this function was working previously then it could be the replacement lock which is faulty.

My lock is not actuating and not getting power all fuses are fine I tried to have a key programmed today programmed to the car perfectly but will not activate the central locking or unlock the boot what is the issue please checked all fuses and they are fine and all been replaced today when I press the button on the boot it’s making no noise at all

If your central locking doesn't work as well as your boot lock then there could be an issue with the controller either not receiving the signal to lock or unlock or not sending that command to the locks. That should have shown a fault when programming though. As part of the program procedure the receiver should test that its receiving signaled commands from the keys. If your fault was with only one door or just the boot lock my next step would be to check it has a good earth connection and see what voltage you're getting at the unit. Could be an open circuit or a short.

MTM Motor Services the central locking doesn’t work on the fob or when I put the key in the door, the key is giving 4.33ghz out on unlock and lock but nothing on the car is happening at all, the only door that unlocks on the key is the driver door that’s it

@@charltsevenoaks1691 if you press the key fob and the drivers door unlocks then that shows the body control module is sending the signal to unlock the doors. If you have diagnostic equipment you'll be able enter the module and control the central locking to see what works and doesn't work. I would suggest doing this while also checking voltage at each individual unit while being actuated via diagnostic. It's a little more on depth than your normal DIY job so I would advise you take it to a garage as you are dealing with a delicate system and electrical diagnosis.

if you know you haven't got power i'd look up the fuse in case it's blown. if all is ok there and you still cant open it, i'd recommend doing it the same way i have in this video if you've got the same model. when the panels are off you can check out the wiring. the wiring loom by the tailgate hinge can be a trouble area for broken wires.

You'll be able to unbolt the lock from the door but I had to break it apart in order to release the latch
