Doc Stanley and my daddy have passed on now, but I can hear his accent and his older sister (who spent many a dear appreciated hour sitting me on her lap and scratching my back). God bless you Doc Stanley and my daddy and aunt, to whatever extent there is a God to grant it!

Saw him many times in concerts especially the last 20 years. Went to his weekend concert in Norton VA on top of the mountain a couple of times; many other good bands there but his was the best! I miss his old time music!

Having lost Jesse McReynolds and Bobby Osbourne within a could days makes it really important to share these old videos. My kids come from some great music on both sides of the family and they know it but they don't play.. my one has the basics and I think I need to encourage her .I don't have the rhythm but I know the chords so I can help her carry it on... Gonna buy me a mandolin

Got to see them once in concert a few years before Dr Ralph passed. At the intermission I went to their table to look at cd's. He was standing there with Nathan his grandson. I wanted to say something to him but just couldnt. To this day I wonder why. I kind of regret it, 'cause Ralph, carter, and the Clinch mt. boys are my favorite . My dad could see Clinch Mt. from his childhood home.

By this time, Keith Whitley left the Clinch Mountain Boys to become a hitmaker; sadly, he also continued to drink, which took his life at age 34 on May 9, 1989. Had he been more like Ricky Skaggs, who like Whitley also played in the CMBs, he may have lived a little longer.
