Funnily enough, the site of the Balinese room is for sale. I think its like $300K. the permits needed to build such a structure are not being issued anymore, so it is definitely worth the price to someone. Would cost several million to build on it, though.

Ike was the scariest storm I've ever rode out. Was in league city about 35 -40 miles north of Galveston. I'll never forget the sound of the wind as it went through.

That night is when 99% of Houston lost power. 2 small tornadoes went by my house - tore up my trees and neighbor's trees and took off a few shingles - the tornadoes sounded like jet engines. Luckily one of my brothers still had power the next day - about 20 family members moved in for a week. When he called me that afternoon to come to his house, I asked him what food I should bring - he said "Bring everything you got - we need it" lol.

Great stuff. I moved to Houston in 2014 so I didn't get this one but I've always been fascinated with storms. Harvey was definitely an experience for me.
@cats4003 жыл бұрын
Harvey was nothing but rain for Houston. Just wait till you ride out a real hurricane with wind and all

Ahhhhh ... the Balinese. An important piece of history, taken by Ike. The Bolivar Peninsula was taken from the landscape. People lost their lives ....more than we'll ever know. RIP 🌀 🌊💦🙁🙏🏼🌹 Excellent footage of the beginning of the storm 👍

As bad as this storm was I don't think most people realize how bad it would have been without the raising of the island and the seawall which were finished in 1910.

If I could I would always live on the water. Everyday is a gift there in my eye's. That one day that gift purges all the evil in the world. It is then cleansed of impurities. Then tomorrow, the sun comes out again. Everyday, live as the sun is shining. Be nice...maybe we won't need to purge if there is good in the world.... Everywhere!
