Yeah I am not seeing the looters in this video. I am from western, NC. What I have seen is people helping each other in Asheville and small towns surrounding the area. Ex. One neighbor had an RV they rarely used. They have allowed folks to come by and charge their phones to get in contact with love ones. I see people checking on elderly neighbors, etc. Everyone in Asheville is banding together. What news reports are showing mobs of mass looters like this is Escape from New York? Cops are not preventing people from taking necessities like food given the circumstances and cleanup and rescue has started (in Asheville) sadly in many smaller towns S&R has not really gotten underway. This is a blow to the Carolinas for sure, but Appalachians are tough. We will come back from this.

That amount of coverage costs $500/month. If one’s house and all their belongings cost $500,000, the maximum amount they would receive for a total loss, is 50% of the total value. The insurance company determines who can even purchase flood insurance, predicated on the likelihood that the property and home is at risk for a flood. The vast majority of homeowners in our region of WNC, were not eligible to purchase flood insurance. Don’t be sure quick to comment on topics of which you are completely ignorant and uninformed.

My heart broke when we heard of the dubai flooding like this, and they addressed it was from them trying to seed the desert , they admitted they have the technology to do this, they just didnt double check how to shut it off... What weather we had here in pa this year was record setting tornadoes over 50 confirmed ... 50... in this little 1 red light area?? Huh. Days with winds over 50mph NON STOP... I'm Canadian and usually watch hurricans over the years hit your country. I'm so upset that not once in 5-6 days not one rescue boat or search teams on foot with dogs, helicopters from armed services............NOTHING for these poor people. It's as if they want to wipe out all these towns and people. Just citizens helping citizens, with the sheriffs hindering the aid. Happens in Canada too with these fires, some fire fighters but any aid as far a equipment and additional men with much better capabilities helping. The government isn't coming for you. We are on our own in the next months or years.

In the aftermath of Helene, benefit from my misfortune and do not compound your problems: beware of an outfit called “Samaritan’s Purse’. These people showed up in my neighborhood in NJ after Superstorm Sandy offering to help. I was away at the time and my wife let them in. The end result was over $10,000 in property stolen over a couple day period. SP disclaimed any liability and said they really didn’t do any background on their volunteers and didn’t even have records of who they were. So proceed accordingly

Lot of drugs, and drug rehab centers in Asheville. They'll be looking for opportunities everywhere to pay for the next fix. It's a shame what downtown Asheville has become over the years.
