I have a 2015 crew cab 4x4 LT 6.0. 280,000 miles on it. Have and Airaid Red SynthaMax Dry Filter. I've put a lot of miles on a 6.0 Vortec. With a factory air set up and an aftermarket. Not something I would do again. No significant nor noticeable gain. I'd just as soon left it alone. It makes a different sound.. that's about it..

Just put my stock air box back on yesterday, after running a cold air intake since 2015. I got tired of cleaning the Mass Air flow sensor because of the Oiled air filter

All the GM HD 6.0 gassers of this same style/model year range were actually factory built w/ a cold air intake system already.. A pretty decent one too.. I learned that back when I was considering replacing the OEM intake w/ an aftermarket CAI... Not only is the stock oem intake set-up on these trucks already a CAI to begin with, but tests have shown that the STOCK CAI systems are better then most, if not all of the aftermarket systems...🤯So keep it stock! & DON'T use no K&N (or similar) for ur air filter!! Go w/ the heavy-duty air filter from Wix👌💯

You’re thinking diesel numbers for gains with tuning… Intake, exhaust, & a tune on a naturally aspirated V8 is good for about 20-30RWHP.. Intake & exhaust by itself maybe 10hp if you’re lucky..

If you aren't careful you can absolutely LOSE the low end torque you need for towing. What this guy really needs is a new truck. Either that, or put a small turbo or tvs1900 on it, add a leaf spring, re-gear, and drive slow.

@@oceanwaves83 if you get into cam swaps that would be possible. A good tune should have higher numbers all the way around but very negligible on a NA motor.. Agreed either new truck or make it forced induction though for real gains but then the next issue would be the transmission, especially with a towing application..

@@northernidahooutdoors3748 almost all of those trucks have heavy duty Allison trans, as long as you don't go over a stage 2 cam shaft there is no need to change anything else and get about another 80-100whp out of it. All silverado 2500's come with a factory tow package that is rated for 6 tons, so his camper must be over his tow limit to begin with. The thing to watch out for is state weight limits on your drivers license!!!!

2012 also has a mechanical fan but it doesn't stick out as far as this 2009 fan shroud. The 2012 Also doesn't have an external PCV valve. They really were tweaking things on these trucks between 2008-2013. Makes finding the right aftermarket parts hard because they don't differentiate between the different years.

yep a stage 1 or 2 camshaft with a little bit longer stroke, no need for rough idle as it will just waste fuel. If you stick to a stage 2 or less then you won't need to upgrade the heads or change the pistons. must be one heavy camper as my truck will pull a 5 ton camper like nothing up a hill with stock factory setup.

Y'all kno that all the GM HD 6.0 pickups of this model year range are factory built with & already have pretty decent CAI systems right...?? The stock factory exhaust systems on these trucks are also exceptional as well! Rolled right off the assembly line with CAI & exhaust systems that perform better than most, if not all aftermarket options out there..

I pull my fifth wheel (20,000) with a 6.0 gasser - does great. I can run 65-70 on an 8% grade. I just dont like keeping my foot in it that much because of gas prices.

Putting all the blame on the salesman? Did you check the manufactures specs? More often than not they are optimistic and not realistic. I have never seen a travel trailer weigh 30,000 pounds. 10,000 - 15,ooo pounds is a very large trailer loaded. My towing capacity on a 2015 4x4 2500HD is 13,000 pounds on a conventional tow. If a salesman sells a trailer weighing over twice the capacity then he has opened himself up to a huge lawsuit with no chance of winning. Side note most 40' trailers loaded are going to come in under 13,000 pounds. That doesn't mean I would want to tow it.

@@huracanian3051 Hauling equipment in a semi is similar as far as going overweight. I have had the pleasure of the scale house circus a few times. For a reference point only my truck/pickup is rated at 14,200 trailer weight and 20,500 combined weights with the truck. That is for a fifth wheel rating. I'm sure the ratings changed between the years. I wasn't saying it was heavier than the dealer should have sold him. Even if it falls into the factory ratings doesn't make it the right thing to do. My 6.0 liter is underpowered.

Hello there, GM HD trucks were ALWAYS with clutch mechanical fans. If you saw one with electric fans, that’s because it has been converted to one. Good luck! Just wanted to share some facts. 😉

I know its an old video but you need to tell bro to get smaller tires. Smaller diameter (stock) will give him like 15% tq and hp just from the diameter, then he will gain another 10% of tq and hp from the fact that the tires are lighter. If you're trying to tow the max the truck is rated for, or in his case more than the truck is rated for, you gotta keep stock tire size. For example on a half ton 5.3 with 31.5" tires that weigh 42 pounds each you will dyno around 300 hp rear wheel in 4th gear with a 360 hp at-the-crank motor. Throw on some 68 pound load range E 33" tires and the same truck now dynos 240 HP in 4th gear. If you want big heavy tires, step 1 is re-gearing, step 2 is getting big heavy tires. I got step 1 and 2 mixed up before and i HATED it. HP goes down, TQ goes down, MPG goes down, PAYLOAD goes down by 100 pounds (because tires are heavier you hit your GVWR on the scale 100 pounds sooner) and most of all your braking performance goes way down. The wheel has more leverage since it is taller, and it has way more momentum because it is heavier and you will find yourself STOMPING the brake pedal to stop at low speeds with an unloaded truck. If you wanna tow or haul heavy keep it stock. If you wanna tow and haul heavy with oversize tires you need to upgrade gears ($1500), brakes (slotted rotors, aggressive pads $800), then finally get your big tires ($1200-1800 if you keep the stock rims). I went back to stock tires and planning to re-gear soon.

Towing over you're limit is VERY dumb. If you get into an accident most insurance companies will not cover you due gross over load of the vehicle. Imagine if someone dies good luck on you're now destroyed life!
