Now this really is so exciting! Extremely interesting to hear about the different set of considerations that crop up when you paint large. And I love the fact you woke up thinking about shapes and colours - love those brain-whirrings just before you know you are going to dive straight into a painting. And wow, you really went did go for and got your hands dirty by the look of it!! I love the idea of leaving spontaneity as well. Looking AMAZING, I love it!

i am just mesmerized by watching you paint and your process. I am just beginning to try abstract acrylic painting. I don't really have any formal art training, so don't know what I'm doing, but I can't stop thinking about creating a big piece. Do you have a place where you list the types of surfaces you paint on, tape that you use to attach to the wall? Right now, i just have some small canvas boards to work on and two larger canvas boards that I want to paint on, but don't feel like I'm ready to (fearful). I also don't have a designated space to create art. Am working on my kitchen island, but it's cumbersome. Thank you for posting your beautiful videos.

Love it! our processes are very similar. I too rotate my canvas quite a bit. When I have a large unstretched canvas on my wall and get to a place where I want to rotate it, I let it dry overnight and then the next day just remove the pushpins and rotate it. I can't rotate it as often as I would normally with a stretched canvas, but it still gets rotated maybe 2 or 3 times at least.

...Miss Caughey's painted result looks quite fresh, as it should... ...I feel that Americans (and others imitating them) choose energy ("I looove the energy") over Design, which matches their make-up and short history... the painter's initial statement was clear and honest - "let's have fun and play" - so it's not the image that mattered, but the activity over the canvas (wrongly named "process" by scores of amateurs)...
@PamelaCaughey3 жыл бұрын
Interesting observation-I consider “play” an important part of the artistic process 😄🐝🌻😊

Your work is very inspiring and creative~~love it! Like you said "it has to speak to me". I want to use Marabu Art Crayons over my acrylic painting in some parts, for more depth and interest. I always varnish my work on canvas, but never used the Marabu art crayon before and I'm excited. So my question is~~~would I have to use a spray fixative to seal it or would varnish work? Thank you for your time and sharing your talents with us!! Warm greetings from Canada!!

Hi Pam, nice to watch the process right from the start. Do you know how the canvas will be mounted? It could also be cut up into the close up shots, it’s the actual finishing of the substrate that can be the big job sometimes! Today I am going to attempt to make a floating frame for one of my finished pieces on board, wish me luck :)
@PamelaCaughey5 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie! Yes, I do wish you luck - we all need a bit of that in our studios for sure. I hope I will not have to crop it but rather pull it together - we will see. I love the whimsy of this painting and the way you dance with the canvas. One question: how do you keep your brushes so clean?
@junemarshall66804 жыл бұрын
Hi Dianne, the best way is to just clean them right away after you've finished your painting session. I use baby wipes for the handles and a pot of water to swish them through. Later I give them all a good wash with plain soap and hot water to soften them all again. The baby wipes are good for squeezing out the excess paint from the fibres of the brushes. If we love and value our brushes we won't let them get into a state. I revere my brushes and collect them. I have a beautiful chinese brush my daughter gave me, it has a ceramic blue and white handle. hope this helps x
