He’s not just the director, he’s aware of what she is capable. Getting the best performance out of her is his job. Same as in a music booth. The producer is your worst enemy and best friend at the same time.
@kensurrency25642 жыл бұрын
And the result of their hard effort is a masterpiece. How do you mix horror and musical with Tim Burton directing, and it’s this wonderful? You do Sweeney Todd.

Are we just ignoring the fact that he actually threw her into the "oven" pretty hard? Ffs, she was pregnant while filming...
@theorangeislands57317 жыл бұрын
Acting, there would have been some sort of padding in there which ensured that she didnt hurt herself too badly
@maimforme71176 жыл бұрын
there was some padding inside the oven (both for cgi and safety purposes)

@brigittesnelson23544 жыл бұрын
It is acting, you think Johnny is gonna just say no to the directors directions?🤣 The director is her husband by the way so obviously he wouldn't put her at risk so there was absolutely some sort of padding to make sure she was just fine.

He always makes it a point to deconstruct them in some way. So he might just dislike the 'standard' musical, like Frozen or such.

I saw this movie for the first time in college. The hilarious irony is, my roommates thought I wouldn't like it because of all the blood and gore and him butchering people. About halfway through the movie (around the scene where she sings By the Sea) I start cackling uncontrollably. They paused the movie and asked me what was so amusing and I said "I'm sorry. He just looks SO BORED and the blood looks ridiculous. Its like Sweeny and Mrs. Lovett are the Joker and Harley Quinn, living in London and plotting how to kill people for pies. lol They RELISH the carnage. It has since become one of my favorite musicals actually.....right up there with the Wizard of Oz and the Sound of Music.

Bohnam Carter shouldn’t have gotten that role. 🤢🤡 can’t sing AT ALL. But it IS hard to record 1st and have to adapt your character performance on set to that recording. That much is true. On another note, I’m surprised pompous Sondheim approved the cutting of the chorus. The Ballad of Sweeney NOT being sang is a definite MISS as far as I’m concerned about that movie adaptation: bleh 🤢

Remember that this originally was a stage play by Stephen Sondheim , not a movie , so there are people who think well if it’s a play about doom and gloom going to skip the movie , which is totally , totally a misconception the movie brings you closer to the play , people in general just thought I’ll skip the film which is a huge ,huge mistake. The movie , a masterpiece , I think brilliant cast , brilliant.
