Awesome analysis! I always love seeing historical costuming reviews, and it's even better if they're about musicals. It was pretty nice getting to learn a bit more about the fashion of this period, to be honest, I wasn't even sure when the movie was supposed to take place, but you cleared that up pretty well. Particularly, I love the steampunk vibe of the pieces because I'm a little obsessed with the aesthetic, and I'd love to see a fully steampunk-inspired production of the show someday. I hope you continue with the videos! My only tip would be making the background music a bit quieter, it sometimes makes it hard to hear you and to keep track of what's being said, but other than that, everything's perfect! This was so enjoyable to watch. I'm a middle school theatre teacher and a musical theatre composer (whose idol is Stephen Sondheim) and listening to just how nuanced, passionate, and considerate you were about the costuming in the movie was such a breath of fresh air.

What about Todds "denim" grey jacket? Btw I'm not sure if it is denim. I think that even though they are historically in-accurate it sort of makes them stand out from the rest of the crowd. I love all the outfits to be honest.

I totally forgot about that! And yeah, you totally have a point with them standing out from the background characters which is especially important in film and television. I really love Colleen Atwood's designs and the costumes of Sweeney are no exception-they're really gorgeous! Thank you for your insight!
