Maybe it's from enemies with multiple attacks and the evasive badges such as Close Call, Pretty Lucky and Lucky Day?

Late but i think in something, multiple attacks dont gave mario a gameover after the attack finish, it happen in other paper mario games but since in tyyd you can use badges to dodge attacks this will happen

The glitch gives you a good chance for a free heal at least I think the problem is that if you leave the battle at all either through running or winning, the overworld check notices that you have 0hp so for this glitch to be useful you have to heal before that

This happened to me too, I think those black and red spider’s cause this glitch somehow. I was able to attack still but once the enemies hit Mario he died. I had life shrooms so he just came back and the game resumed as normal.

Probably, but that got me thinking what if you use a mushroom or something to heal you up before the battle ends? What if you do that and survive the rest of the battle? Does it Game Over you after using the mushroom? After the battle? Maybe it doesn't at all and completely ignores the fact that you had 0 HP yet.

I'm guessing a "miss" from the enemy marks Mario as 'didn't take damage' and it only checks for the death if mario took damage

It would probably be easier for them to wait a year or two for more glitches/bugs to be discovered, then they can fix them all in a single patch. Nothing that has been found so far is an emergency by any means. They are easily avoidable, or in this case it's something that has a small chance of happening and is very minor. It doesn't soft lock or crash the game, and all you need to do is heal.

It wasn't rushed. Damn near all games have bugs and glitches. You can be really thorough in testing for them, but chances are very high that gamers will discover more upon release. This is mainly because many gamers actually look for bugs and glitches intentionally, and the rest of it is just the fact that everyone plays differently and your game isn't going to be exactly the same each time you play. There are soooooooooo many variables at play.

@@JMFSpike I didn’t even try to find bugs and most I could find was missing text and spelling errors in the french version.
