Quote from John Butler, paraphrased a bit since I can't find the original: "I used to think I was a player, but that wasn't necessarily true. There's me, there's the guitar, and then there is something else that plays it." I've never been able to put that feeling into words quite so well until I heard that phrase.

If I could listen to only one song for the rest of my life it would be this song. I know he changes it each time but that's part of the beauty of it. He takes me on such an emotional journey, ebbing and waning like the waves of the ocean. The energy and tension build gradually, higher and higher, leading to an explosion of pure joy. Then he carries me softly back down and lays me to rest in the ripples of a quiet tidal pool. I cry every time and it always feels... cathartic. Therapeutic. Call it what you like, but this song heals. What a gift to give the world!
