Great Straight to the point video! thanks Caleb, quick question the leaking scares me! do you think is because you might have nicked the outer fabric with branches and stuff like you mention? or is it just leaking out of no where? have you patched it?

Tent canvas doesn't do well when you lean up against it for long periods of time. It'll always allow moisture in when you are up against it. Since I'm so tall and my feet were up against it all night. It allowed a decent amount of moisture in through the night. If you are shorter I really doubt you would have the same issue! Or got the bigger tent!

Great review! I’m trying to find out how these hold up in severe wind / windstorms

I was in pretty high winds for one night in Colorado. It held up well on the one night. I'm not sure how well it'll hold up over time in high winds though...

Thanks for sharing your review. I don't understand how contacting (pushing up against) the canvas causes it to leak. Is it coming through the canvas fabric, through a seam or through a zipper? I couldn't imagine over 6 feet tall and cramming myself into the regular size IO RTT, at 5'7" my toes hit the top. I bought mine used and the previous owner added a wooden dowel into the awning flap and that makes it functional. Definitely worth the effort because as you mentioned it pretty worthless when it's sagging. I have noticed that some of the seam tape has come apart but I'm not exactly sure how old the tent is or if it was caused by abuse. Thanks again for the review.

It definitely is coming through the canvas. It leaked through during a HEAVY rainstorm, and think it was too much while i was up against it. I haven't had any trouble so far with the seam tape peeling off. I will have to watch for that down the road.

The leaking concerns me

If you're tall enough to be pushed up against the tent canvas all night, while it's raining. It's inevitable that it's going to leak.

Been following you and appreciate your awesome video. I do have silver FJ like you and also Prinsu roorack. I'm exactly 6' tall and will travel solo and like the perfect fit of std tent over the Prinsu roorack. Do you think I should go with the XL or try to sleep diagonally and settle with Std version?
@fj_Journeys7 ай бұрын
I appreciate your support man! It means more than I can express. I would 100% recommend the XL version. You will get a better nights rest and won't have to worry about bumping and stretching your canvas.

So it does or doesn't leak. Sounded like you said both
@fj_Journeys7 ай бұрын
It does leak if you are up against the canvas in hard rains

I’m 6’3 so the smaller tent wouldn’t work for me. Maybe the XL. It’s a nice tent, but for now I have to stick with a ground tent to save some interior space inside my Jeep.

Totally understand. A RTT is defiantly an investment.

Does anyone know if this would fit on a 2003 grand vitara?
@fj_Journeys5 ай бұрын
I think it would hang over the front or hang off the back a bit, but you could rig it up to fit it on there.
