This is great to see - as I have a smaller SUV and my options are limited. Thanks for the demo Ben.

Good demo Ben. The cover is a novel ideal. Though for me it will be wasted as I have fixed solar panels mounted on my RTT. The fly screen should be on the outside. I really like how slim and lightweight it is.

The low profile design and minimal weight are the draw-card for this tent. I can't imagine many people bothering with the cover though. ~ Ben

I'd love something like this for my little VW Polo but I think it would be bigger than the car. Should get myself a cheap little 2 x 4. Thanks Ben, awesome review.

Definitely too big for a Polo - Compact car camping gear is a great option, I can camp with family of 4 out of my Golf. ~ Lauren

How is it with clearance to typical Westfield shopping centre carparks and apartment basement carparks?

That's largely dependant on the height of your vehicle, this rooftop will add about 20cm once installed. ~ Ben

You'd have to work that one out mate - measure the height of your vehicle to the top of the roof bars, then add the height of the roof top tent ~ Lauren

Hi guys great video, and interesting product. I am looking at something similar, but at around 11.32 in the video, I notice a gap between the 2 clamshells, is this normal when the tent closes, as this would be prone to water and dust entering?
@SnowysOutdoors6 ай бұрын
There is a little gap when you pack all the bedding inside, something to be aware of. However, if you were to use a pump and compress the self inflating may first you wouldn't have the same gap. ~ Ben

I went with their soft top tent ($999.95 USA) as I didn't want to have a RTT which needed a cover on it. That's one of the main reasons I passed on a soft top RTT, that and it being very bulking, thus killing MPG's. After watching a slew of videos many folks said taking the cover off and putting in back on a soft top was a pain. I get it that you want to protect the carbon fiber. but putting on and taking off a cover sort of defeats the purpose. Anyway, to each their own.

The tent cover serves a crucial purpose for storage. In response to consistent customer requests for a dedicated storage solution for our rooftop tent (RTT), we developed an outer/storage cover. The carbon fiber (CF) top of the RTT already features UV protection, similar to that found on vehicles with carbon fiber roofs. To further enhance the protection of the carbon fiber surface, we recommend applying a paint protection film (PPF). This additional layer will safeguard against scratches and environmental factors, ensuring the longevity and appearance of the RTT.

The ladder not storing inside is a deal breaker for me, otherwise a really great design. Ive got the original and ill stick to that because the ladder, two pillows, sheets, and blankets easily store inside. I just wish i could add roof bars to it. I thought of uprgrading, but not having the ladder inside is a very silly design choice.

In the interest of keeping roof load weights down and profiles low, more lightweight tents are being produced with the ladder stowing separately inside the vehicle. Inspired Overland's focus is weight, so the decision to stow the ladder separately was intentional. ~ Ben

Is it possible to put roof racks on top to carry surfboards?
@SnowysOutdoors3 ай бұрын
Yes, you can, but we are still waiting on these from Inspired Overland. We have also been looking into alternatives but haven't found anything suitable yet. We will have something available as soon as we can. ~ Ben

Not a fan. There's a outside lip where the canvas run into the bottom hard shell. Is this going to catch water and seep into the tent? I reckon it will.

I can't see this being a problem there are drain holes and the fabric is all seam sealed. ~ Ben
@inspiredoverland3 ай бұрын
No, rainwater will not become trapped or seep through the cover. It has been specifically designed to allow water to be directed downward by gravity, ensuring effective drainage. Additionally, the interior fabric is positioned slightly higher than the outer frame, preventing any water from entering the tent. Thank you for your insightful question.

It looks small. The bug screen is inside out. It’s super light, I did consider this last year pre-order. But for $2500 & you still need a protective cover 😞 the 1st Gen let rain in during heavy rain. Had to do a hard pass. I went with the 140lbs top bee RTT for $1106 after taxes free shipping. I put it on my truck by my lonesome, not too heavy.

Looks can be very deceiving. We suggest to get a masking tape and lay out our dimension on the floor. At 86x52 that’s pretty roomy.

They won't suit everyone, the lightweight, low profile design is the big draw-card of these. They also look sweet and have space for a couple or plenty of space for a solo adventurer. ~ Ben

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We designed the door setup to prioritize privacy, airflow, and minimize water, dust, and dirt accumulation on the netting. Outside netting can present more challenges, particularly during severe wind and rain storms. The current door design offers more advantages in these conditions. We greatly appreciate customer input, as it is integral to our design process. As both the designers and manufacturers, we take all feedback seriously. This tent evolved from suggestions on our original design, which we now refer to as the entry-level or starter tent. Thank you for your continued support and insights
