Congratulations on 1k subscribers Rob! It's a shame how many people who like to 'talk the talk' when it comes to being kind and helping others, fail to 'walk the walk' when it comes to something as simple as saying good job. Very un-Christlike. Loved seeing you make one of Jack's most infamous recipes, and I look forward to the 10k subscriber video soon! -Al.

Thank you for the kind words. It’s sad, but I have actually gotten to the point in my life that I usually expect people to not do what they said they were going to do. Time after time I have become frustrated/upset with folks for basically lying to me. In this case, I never asked for help, so I don’t expect any. A “nice job” would have been nice, but oh well. Making the Party Cheese Salad was something I wanted to do one day. I’m happy I was able to share that with so many! The response has been great.

Sorry to hear that Jack didn't congratulate you at all on reaching 1000 subs Rob. I wonder why he didn't?
@RobMilanowski
@RobMilanowski 7 ай бұрын
Well, I don’t really know. I do know at one time he had made a statement that unless you have 2000 subscribers you really weren’t that serious and he wouldn’t do a collaboration video with him. The original requirement for the Jack Pack was that you had 2000 subscribers. I believe he changed that requirement after nobody joined.. The other reason he may not have congratulated me is because he thought I was going to do a video that made fun of him and this dish. I told him I was not going to bash him, but possibly he didn’t believe me. Whatever the reason… I don’t care, the great vibes I’m getting from all of these comments are congratulations enough for me.

Congrats! I'm a foodjack and a self-admitted non-fan of the party salad. Don't take Jack's discomfort with your recreation of the recipe as a dig towards you - many malcontents have used it as a derisive tool to lambast Jack's cooking ability, and profiteer from gawking at the recipe. I wasn't born in the 60's or 70's but I've had relatives who were cooking in that era, and trust me, Jello concoctions that were even weirder than Aunt Myrna's were extremely common. Anyway, love the video's and sending positive vibes towards you, Patty and the channel!
@RobMilanowski
@RobMilanowski 7 ай бұрын
Well, I was born in the 60s and I do remember some pretty strange Jell-O/fluff concoctions. Usually at family, gatherings or weddings. This one was a bit offputting because of the crunchiness and the flavor of the green pepper and celery. I don’t know if I tasted any of the pimento, but the texture of that wasn’t so bad. In my refrigerator at this moment is a version of the salad that doesn’t have any of the vegetables. I also tried to take all the sugar out. Unfortunately, the crushed pineapple has quite a bit of natural sugar in it. Going to try it tomorrow, and who knows, if it’s good, you might be seeing Uncle Rob‘s party cheese salad.

Great recipe! For anyone on a diet you can make a carnivore version by substituting shredded chicken for vegetables and bone broth for jello
@RobMilanowski

I suppose that would be a possibility. Please, if anybody decides to make a carnivore version of this, please send me a link to it. I would love to see that. I wonder if using fish instead of chicken would be an acceptable substitute.

I guess I never thought of it that way before, but, Jack does provide a lot of inspiration for a lot of different people. Dozens and dozens of videos have been created that have generated millions of views because of Jack. Unfortunately for Jack, many of those videos are not looking at Jack’s original videos, very favorably. But I would imagine, Jack has obtained thousands of extra subscribers, and many thousands of views because of those reaction videos. Thank you for the congratulations on 1K. I very very much appreciate it.

For a while there, he seemed to be very interested in helping others out. I never asked for help, so maybe because of that he didn’t feel obligated to spread some love my way. Yes, you are right. I did like it more than Patti did. I think that’s because I was trying to find some thing in it that was appealing. I think I said the tanginess and the creaminess were pretty good.. I think if we would’ve stopped right there and maybe put a gram cracker crust under it, it would’ve been OK. But the addition of those crunchy vegetables and those pimentos, wow, that took it in the wrong direction.

Thank you for saying that. I know some people were hoping I would’ve had a reaction like many of the other videos related to this dish have had. But, it didn’t hit me that bad. Patti and I each only had the two bites that we recorded. Unfortunately, the rest of it got dumped. I’m thinking the reason it wasn’t revolting to me was that I was familiar with the flavor of each individual item. The thing that was most off pudding (pun intended) was the texture of this thing. These things should not be put together in a single dish. As a heads up… I’m currently working on an Uncle Rob‘s version of this. Spoiler alert, there will be no vegetables in the version I’m putting together.

Cozy little video. Your positivity is infectious. Happy to do my part in kickstarting your journey to 100k. I wonder: if you replaced the peppers, celery and pimento with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and spinach, could this dish be salvaged? maybe bake it in the oven as well so it doesn't such a slimy consistency. having all those raw vegetables with completely contradictory flavor profiles strikes me as the critical mistake that moves this from an odd dish to a culinary biohazard.
@RobMilanowski
@RobMilanowski 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, the raw vegetables… That really was the weak link in this. At first I was thinking, well, maybe the crunch will be a nice counterpoint to the creaminess of the lemon cream cheese. I was wrong. Those crunchy vegetables really gave you a feeling that you were eating, as Patti said, a potato salad. Combining that with the overall tangy sweetness really caused this dish to miss the target. I can’t tell from Jack’s video, whether or not, he truly liked it. I do know from many other videos I have watched, not many people have had positive things to say. oh well, we gave it a try and we survived. Thank you for commenting on this video. Your sound on this video was kinda low, you should nudge it up a bit. I've been told that the reason why people tend to react badly to the Party Cheese Salad is that they use fresh bell pepper, which is much more sharp than the canned one he used. I also never see the point of adding celery to any dish. It's pretty useless except adding excess water.
@RobMilanowski
@RobMilanowski 7 ай бұрын
I agree with you on the sound. I’ve had that problem on several of my videos. I am using iMovie on my iPad and iPhone to edit these videos. There doesn’t seem to be an easy way of bumping up the volume of the entire video. I have to select each clip individually and increase the volume. That takes awhile and I end up missing a couple. Frustrating! Yeah, green pepper would’ve been better if it was softer. And I agree 100% on the celery comment. I just made a version of this without any of the vegetables in it. It’s actually pretty good.
