I love your videos because I'm German, my grandparents moved to the US right at the end of WWII. They were so focused on learning English that they didn't teach German to their kids (my mum and uncle). Loving my heritage, I've taken it upon myself to learn to German and everything there is to know about the culture, language and cuisine. I've been to Germany a few times and absolutely love it. Having the recipes in German and English definitely helps me connect to my roots

You are so patient when cooking. I think that’s one of my biggest problems when I try to cook. You put and took the meatballs in and out of the pan one at a time where I would have dumped some from the tray into the pan and used a big spoon to take them out 2-3 at a time. lol

It is a Greek-Serbian recipe, called Makalo. Once upon a time a Swedish prince visited northern Greece and Greeks treated him Makalo. He was excited from its taste. He decided to make this recipe the "ethnic Swedish dish"!!!❤

I love the way you cook. The Swedish meatballs recipe is very close to what my mom has always done, only change is to use breadcrumbs instead of white bread. In the future I would like to see some soup recipes from you: Austrian garlic soup, or mixed vegetable soup, as an example.

I’m Swedish and skip the bread, but add mustard. Soy sauce instead of beef broth. Lingonberries or blackcurrant jelly are a mandatory accompaniment! Boiled or mashed potatoes too, of course!

My Swedish grandma did not use half pork, but I have tried it and it is very good. I was brought up on a lot of Swedish meatballs... She used salt, Allspice, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and white pepper in hers. Grandma used to say in her Swedish accent "Ya, vell, dey yust melt in your mout"... Her Swedish pancakes were to die for also. I guess there are many ways to make Swedish meatballs as my Grandma's recipe was quite different. I am sure these are delicious.

Interesting. As a Dutch lifelong bachelor this is almost exactly how I make my own invention meatballs. Except I *do* add a teaspoon of sugar (important,since it creates balance of flavours and improves browning), a large teaspoon of coarse mustard, some Ketjap, and a teaspoon of tomato paste. I don't use bread. I also make each ball weigh 250 grams. This size assures the balls stay juicy inside. It is also a perfect fit for the typical Dutch hotch potch meals. I brown them in cream butter (adding a swig of olive oil to prevent the butter from burning) on all sides in a deep cast iron pan. Once the balls are brown on all sides I add some gravy from my home made gravy stock. Then put on the lid and let the balls simmer on very low heat until done, turning them regularly. The simmering assures the juices stay inside. Too high a temperature will make them dry.
