1/100 Gundam Barbatos Review

This is a review of the no grade gundam model kit Gundam Barbatos from the series mobile suit gundam iron blooded orphans.

they will make an mg barbatos when they reach the end of the barbatos in the anime. they need to make one that can do any one of the forms so we will either see normal release upgrade kits like the core booster or they will be pbandai.

Hey Jabman, I love the sweet weathering job. I am working on a bearguy for the contest, and I was curious if you could recommend a sealer that doesn't dull the shine on testor's metallic paint? I've been burned before using sealer on metallic paint, and I don't have the resources or time to test a bunch of different ones before the end of April.

"Wheres the mace?" Exclusive to the 1/100 Barbatos 6th form. It even has a movable "spear" at the end to simulate the Pile Bunker function of the mace! Why is it exclusive to the 6th form? Well, gotta spread out those parts to make you buy all the kits!

Thanks for the review there Jabman, I kinda regret getting the 1/144 now, mostly because I probably would've had better results with my brushes on a bigger surface like the 1/100, your weathering was really fitting to the Barbatos too. Do you plan to do reviews for the other kits like the Gusion/Rebake or the Kimaris? And I'd like to throw in a request for the RE 1/100 Efreet.

I think the Hi- res was supposed to be the master grade equivalent, but I hope you're right. This was actually my first non master grade gundam kit and the first kit ive done any painting on. I Intend on collecting this line of no grades (just the gundams at least). I actually just finished building and painting as I saw you posted this :)

Yes the High Resolution for sure...now I have a better understanding of the actual product which provides a pre built inner frame ( Kind of a bummer ) but I love the fact diecast content is present and looking to see what this bad boy is all about once complete. Personally I prefer to build the entire kit....but this does look nice and unique. Great display piece ...do you agree?

The frame is old but the armor is new. Also, have you seen the commercial for this things? It has weathering but it's shiny. I'm really curious on how that works. I'm working on my Barbatos for an upcoming contest and I'm wondering if I should replicate it since I'm going for a metallic look.

+Mark Mejia There won't be an MG. Why? Because why would it be? What could they do better? It has an inner frame which is decent to pretty good, it has solid detail for the armor and there's a "High Resolution" kit coming out around the end of March that's going to cost somewhere around $140. Why would they make a $140 worth of a kit if they're going to make a $35 MG upgrade? Can't beat logic. And Qubeley doesn't need a 2.0. The regular Qubeley is awesome as is. Built it so I know. It's a thing of beauty. However I'd like to see a Justice done in an MG form. More SEED MG kits too.

Both of you are correct, he did use the mace in this form BUT this kit was released BEFORE he used the mace in this form. And yes, I do know beforehand that the 6th Form kit does have the mace, but they should've added that in kit number 1. Get my point yet?

Ralph Ryan Lao The thing is, Bandai most likely was aware of what the Barbatos did have beforehand... They just intentionally chose not to include it so they could include it with another kit later to basically ensure that a majority would buy the other kit(s). It's how they've been doing IBO HGs and also IBO 1/100 NGs so far and probably will do so with the eventual MG line. It's what I have been calling it a Bandai Bait or Bandai Trolling in the sense that they intentionally release things and work on designing things to make sure the consumer buys the other kits, and maybe even multiples of it to have enough parts to make all variations. Take like the 1/100 Gusion/Gusion Rebake. A lot of complaints that I hear (and not surprisingly) is that there is only 1 frame and only enough to make Gusion OR Gusion Rebake. And at ¥5,000 for the release, basically if you want to have both displayed side by side you will be spending ¥10,000 which is $87.86 US Dollars now which is in the realm of an expensive MG or creeping towards PG price range. Or take like the HGs. It's missing parts or include some parts to make other versions like the HG and NG 1/100 Barbatos Form 6 release. You need the Schwalbe Graze [McGillis Colors] to properly do the Form 5 variant of Barbatos.
