I thought cold seizures occurred on the intake side? It looks lean and dry to me. I would go richer jetting and 32:1. I wish KTM would stop recommending 50:1 for their SX 2-strokes, it’s just not enough oil for those high rpm’s. What do you think? The muriatic acid usage was awesome!

Hello mate Wondered if you can help I know you use shell t4 oil in your bikes but I can’t get it here in the uk is there another oil you recommend or should I stick to motul oil it’s for a yz125 how is your yz125 doing 🤙🏻

Hello. No rotella in UK, I didn't know that. Any diesel motor oil should be good. Thats all rotella is. Diesel oil is a far better oil than regular motor oil. But Motul is great too, just not cheap . The yz125 is doing great! I ride that one more than any other bike I own. Shes up to 56 hours now. Love that bike. Will be riding the yz250 this weekend I think but surely tempted to change my mind and bring out the 125 instead lol

Wouldn't the base gasket thickness vary from one piston to another? I'm sure there's not a ton of variance but I would think that it would make a difference?

I imagine it could. I always check to be sure it matched up well before bolting the head down. But so far it seems most pistons come out the same. Still I would check

How many hours does an engine last from this until the piston is replaced?

Depends really. A slower rider that doesn't work the motor hard can get 50 hours out of a piston. A faster rider that shows the motor no mercy should be replacing the piston every 10 to 20 hours

@@igortbp the ktm 150 engine is good. My complaints with KTM is part prices and availability. Often parts are on back order, or unavailable, or just crazy expensive sometimes. For this reason I usually suggest going with a Yamaha smoker over the KTM unless the KTM is really what the buyer truly wants and is willing to suffer through thier short comings of the complaints I mentioned

@@igortbp well depends what you like. Some people like the KTM better than the yamaha. I personally like Yamaha suspension and aluminum frame better. The KTM is better at giving you a little more HP in stock form. But its fairly easy to get the yz125 up in power to match that.

I agree, nothing wrong with a good washing before work is done. The bike was dropped off to me like this and I'm ok being careful and catching anything that can or will fall in the motor but yeah cleaner is better.
