I got this buggy for my daughter at Christmas and she loves it! I gotta say I do too. It's not super fast, but it's quiet and handles well. Plus we've noticed the batteries last a long time. I'm going to upgrade it with better shocks, metal dogbones, and maybe some bigger tires. Good truck for the money.

This is cool its a change up of the regular 12428 style truck with independent rear suspension and a body that hinges up instead of the incorporated cage and body panels makes it easier to work on and it also has different front suspension the shocks arent inboard anymore

Use your hobby charger on 1S Lipo setting with alligator clips and attach them to the positive and negative terminals of the battery with small metal magnets. That's how I fast charge extra vape batteries.

That is a cool color scheme! And that jump was surprising awesome, think when things work out when not planned makes it even better! I hate if this is true - maybe that's what the driver is thinking, although there are windows on the van.

Not bad at all. The batteries being so low do give the truck stability but they also mean that it shouldn't be run through deep puddles. If you do keep it, I'd like to see a stock runtime test and a range test (not all of us are bashers ;) )

In Germany you can get this as a Reely Core XS Dune or Amewi Evo 4. Got one for my Son. They are very durable.

You have to now of course have to do the slide with the 12428, also when your hunting for those batteries, check out the ones you buy carefully cause some are real, some are not, but they all look the same, and love the sound effects, they kinda sound like the mark zuckerberg sound effects from south park in the try to block me episode

The newer ones have all metal axles, adjustable oil filled aluminum shocks and nut mounted wheels instead of screws. I beat the heck out of mine for a couple of weeks and the only damage so far is light body damage.

They make a good 2500 mah battery for those . On Ebay there yellow an black letters. I bought them for a taser I have. You will get good run time out of a 2500 mah battery. Now that truck is great for the price.

Hey guys..great review. I just got one of these in for review. HBX is really making some great quality RC vehicles. I have the Dune Thunder and the Survivor MT as well. All great entry level hobby grade RCs ! Planning a brushless upgrade for my Survivor MT soon. I have seen high discharge (40c?) 3000 mAh 18650 Li-Ion cells on bangbest or geartop or something like that for pretty cheap. Gonna give it a go.

I never charge anything off my laptop (and don't own a game console.) Because 1. They are typically low amperage; laptop usb 2.0 ports are typically 0.5 amps, 3.0 ports are typically 0.9 amps. 2. It causes undue heat in the laptop / game console to use the USB port to it's fullest amp output for that long. You can buy a 1.0 amp USB wall charger for $5 or less, or a 2.0 amp one for $7 to $9. I use a USB "power bar" with 6 ports 12 amp (2.0 amp per port) charger, they sell for about $25. I charge lots of stuff off USB and don't want to heat up my laptops to do it. Micro drone batteries, ecig batteries, camera batteries, cell phone, spare cell phone batteries, four Android tablets, four USB power banks, rechargeable flashlights, bluetooth speaker, rechargeable bug zappers, and more.

I really like the performance, the styling, driver figure, and light bar! 1-star reviews are in the danger zone, 9%; I usually avoid when they reach 10%. I like the idea of using those 18650 li-ion batteries for RC vehicles. I wonder why this is still uncommon considering how long those batteries have been available? Battery packs for electric unicycles, a much more demanding application, have been using them for years.

the one thing on one seems to ever do when boing an unboxing of the zino or any drones which require an app is demonstrate haw to jump through all the hops to get the drone to work. I got the zino and after 4 days still can't open the app. flying the drone is the easy stuff the setup is the tricky thing I use a Samsung s4

I love those 18650 batteries, and I've often wondered if you would be able to use them in a drone or something (sometimes I wonder if some of these battery packs are just a couple soldered together because they are often about the same size and voltage), and I wonder if the 18650s pulled from Tesla battery packs would last much longer haha

The driver is indeed on the correct side. Do like that hinge mechanism , to get under the body. Why don't more have it like that? Weird van is weird. Wonder if he is friends with that white van? That's not a transit. A transit is a big working van.

Can I use 18650 flat topped battery with it or it should be button topped. It is hard to find button topped buttery with high discharge rate. The power of this vehicle is limited by the battery capacity. What do you think ?

This isnt the first truck you guys have done with those 18650 lithium ion batteries. Remeber that tiny trail truck by wl toys that was competing with the associated 1/12 scale ford trail truck and you can get better chargers for those batteries as well and personally i like that more companies are using these batteries they are safer than lithium polymer and almost as good in power density its what they use in tesla cars

Doubt it...those Li-on will reverse pole...if they over heat. Plus you need good C rating..which actually more expensive than lipo....I like my HBX/RedCat Kt-12. Here's a hint....Redcat makes replacement metal CUPS and CVD...if the REAR plastic cups snaps ( which it will over time)....You can also get ECX metals..(do some metal filing to make it fit ($1).....i have 2845 3100KV with 25T ( 48 pitch) 60A esc 3s 45C...it'll do a back flip from a stand still...on a full charge..Pop wheelies on command whenever....whereever. Over 50 MPH easy ( stock pinon is only 15T)...It'll out run all my 1/10 and 1/8 ...due to it's lighter wight. I can gear it up even more....but I can also just run it on 2s..do 40 mph.. It's like a little beast....i like it. I built a couple brushless with that chassis... for under $100-ea total. it's not perfect....but it's fine out of the box... if it came with a METAL cups and oil shocks out of the box... It would be a perfect truck....even on a brushed motor. It handles way better than my Fy03 brushless. It's just funner to dive over all...and wont break the bank...like my 1/8 scales. with brushless in it....it's faster than my 1/18 wltoy 979...( zips around) and funner to drive....it can go ANYWHERE..and have that same ZIP.lol Oil fill shocks will do magic for this truck...even without the higher power Brushless system....The longer A arm ( the kt 12 has wider off sets..) The tires and wheels will hold up...due to it's light wieght...and will not wear fast....Tire wear becomes an issue when doing over 50 mph on 1/8 buggies.

What are you doubting? They are definitely safer than lipos and they are exactly whats used in teslas and every single cordless power tool on the consumer market and also e ciggerettes there are many high quality 18650 cells available for way less and they are standardized now you can build packs out of them and power your house or an electric bicycle, they are slightly weaker in power density than lipo but they dont fail as violently. They can still explode just not as violently as lipos

And if tesla cars were powered by lipos instead of lithium ion cells they would explode instead of burn, the fires happen when something goes wrong with a cell and are said to be safer when they burn than a regular gasoline car
